Independence Day 2026

(Post for Saturday, July 4th, Independence Day!)

We had a very long, very great 4th of July, full of family and friends and food at my parents’ house, and obviously followed by fireworks at the Summerbrooke golf course. Started off with a label-your-own patriotic Newk’s cup by the front door.

And we brought two big ole trays of 7Brew to pass out for people, since there was a special deal for 4 for $17, so we did two trays and brought 8 drinks. And Hayden was probably the biggest fan of the pina colada chiller.

We had lunch outside in the backyard, and then everyone just hopped right back in the pool as soon as possible since it was a billion degrees.

Burgers & hot dogs for dinner on the grill by my dad, obviously, and a collaborative effort on all the sides from a few different folks. (I made the pasta salad, from a TikTok recipe, and it was really good.)

And then for our third year in a row, we went to the Summerbrooke golf course for fireworks with a big group of all of our church friends.

We had all the kids in their own little pow-wow, and then all the grown-ups were in a long line behind them watching and chatting and constantly keeping our eyes on them while they ran wild before the fireworks started.

It was a super fun day in the pool, and then a great night at the fireworks, all with our framily!
