French Braids

These cuties were just really dressed up adorable today, for our day at Grammy’s house. They’re wearing cute little pilot & co-pilot hats that a family friend gave Jeff yesterday, with their little bags, and a “dirty soda” that Emmie made for herself at home, using flat dollar-tree brand diet coke and my coconut coffee creamer 😆

The girls got straight into the pool, but since it was already 11:30, I stayed out and waited to help make lunch for everyone. So we had sandwiches and strawberries and chips, and then made the girls change into dry clothes for some calm, quiet, indoor time, to escape the sun for a bit. Meggie French-braided all of the girls’ hairs, and then did mine too!

We let them play on their tablets a bit, and read some books, and then I had a little craft time with them. I just brought supplies from home and we made little collage pages with magazines, colored pencils and crayons. I hadn’t done anything like that in a while, but the girls loved it, and I did as well!

Then of course it was time to head back to the pool. We loaded up on sunscreen and fresh ice water, and then jumped into the pool that was so hot it was like bath water… Papa did hook up the hose to a sprinkler to rain down cold hose-water, and we all gravitated towards that part of the pool because that ice-cold water felt amazing.

Me and my two cuties were the last ones to get out of the pool again today, and those last few quiet 15-ish minutes were so calm and chill!

Everyone was starving by the time we got dried and dressed, so we had bbq pulled pork and tater tots and some leftover’s of “Grandma’s chicken & rice bake,” which Addison ate 2.5 bowls of.

We actually ended up back outside after dinner, watching out for the mama deer and her baby that were back behind the fence. We never saw them (papa and Meg did though before we got out there), but Papa did pick this giant yellow sweet pepper he grew in his raise veggie garden, and all the girls took turns taking a bite to try it. Riley & Kensley loved it, Emmie and Addie spit it out, and I also thought it was really good! (Also, Ellie wasn’t there today, because she was spending time with her other grandparents.)

Emmie actually had a hard time falling asleep tonight, even though she should have been exhausted from the day, so she’s laying on the couch with Pennie, listening to one of those sleep-inducing YouTube video things, while I’ve been writing this, so hopefully she’s asleep now and I can just wake her up enough to walk to her room…
