Hollandaise

The girls had a teacher planning today off of school today, so I took the day off work to hang out with them. First up, they had to join me at my PT appointment, but they did pretty well there.

And since they did so well, I promised them I’d take us out for a nice restaurant breakfast. I chose The Bada Bean, since it had been a few years since I’d been there. The food was super delicious, and the girls both loved their food. But the surprising part was, when they tried my eggs benedict, they both loved that too! In fact, they kept stealing bites of my meal, and eating all my little home fries. Emmie specifically loved those, especially dragged through the excess hollandaise sauce. I was so proud of her for trying something new, and loving it!

Ooh I also got an iced almond joy latte, and with a couple extra packets of splenda added in, it was delicious.

We went across the street for some Goodwill thrifting, but didn’t actually buy anything. Then we hit up a few Little Free Library’s over in that area, and then on down into Southwood, driving around for about an hour.

We met up with Jeff for his lunch break at Taco Bell, since he was working today, so he could hang out with us for a bit too. The girls shared some beans & rice and each had a cinnabon donut thing, but I wasn’t hungry so I just did my word search and drew matching heart tattoo’s on all of our wrists.

We ran into Aldi really quickly, looking for a specific product I had seen on TikTok, but we couldn’t find it. So we finally went back to the house to get a little bit of home rest time. This last tiny bit of the puzzle was all I had left, and this took me like 30 minutes! But I finally did it, and after nine days I completed this one. Oh, and we also cleaned up the living room, and the girls played out in the back yard a bit too.

Even after all that runnin’ around this morning, and in the back yard, the girls still wanted some more outside time at the playground in our neighborhood. So we did a quick run there, where I even got on the merry go round with them for a few minutes, until I was too busy to handle it any longer!

Next, we went to the Dollar Tree for toothpaste & snacks since we were hungry from not not eating lunch, and then picked up our weekly grocery order from Walmart. The girls helped me put away all the food when we got home, and then I put dinner together. I made a “chicken cobbler” from TikTok, which is very easy and very yummy. But they apparently ran out of the rotisserie chicken I ordered, so luckily I had two cans of shredded chicken in my pantry already. And I used another one of the seasoning mixes that Nana gave me last week, called Amish Thresher’s Dust. (I put it in a tiny mason jar after using it, and now I need to find tiny jars and lids for my other seasonings she gave me.)

While the “cobbler” was baking, I got the girls into the bathtub, and I spent at least 30 minutes washing up a ton of dishes and listening to my audio book. And the cobbler came out golden and perfect and so warm and cozy.

Addison loved the dinner, but Emerson didn’t so much, and was very mad I “just had to put the vegetables,” so she didn’t really eat it. Instead, I heated up a frozen meal for her, and Addie asked for cookies for dessert, and somehow they both ended up sitting up on the counter eating together.

They were exhausted after such a busy day today, so bedtime actually went real quick and easy and they were sound asleep in no time flat. I’m also exhausted after our big day, so I’ll be ready for bedtime tonight soon too. But I loved our girls’ day together and I was glad for all
