As the fall comes around, the mornings are getting darker again. We moved our sister pics indoors this morning for better lighting, and I just love this picture of my sweet baby girls!
And I love that Emmie tucked a tiny penguin into the front pocket of her overalls when she headed off to school.
Funny little Addie Pie out on the playground at school today, and then doing a bit of green painting in class.
Tonight was another taco salad night for Jeff and I, and some simple rice bowls for the girls. I put the taco meat in their rice bowls that last time we did this, but Emmie didn’t like it, so they just got rice, corn, black beans + sour cream and cheese this time. But man, lemme tell ya, this salad was incredible! There’s tortilla chips hiding underneath everything, with romaine, taco meat, taco fiesta black beans, corn, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, and taco sauce. Plus green onions for mine too. And a Great Value cream soda on the side. Emmie loves cream soda right now, and it’s such a nice sweet treat, and the nostalgic flavor actually reminds me of being a kid, drinking it on vacation.
Now that this area by the front door is clean, the the girls decided they would set up court here as a new play place. It’s actually an “airplane,” and they’ve been playing that Emmie is Addie’s mom, and they’re riding on an airplane for their trip. They’ve had it set up like this for a few days now, so after dinner I said, “Y’all can go play in the airplane for a while before bedtime,” they cheered and ran over here! And so they got out their Kindles and played and watched videos on their little front door airplane flight.
We watched Bluey for a while all snuggled up on the couch, and then separated for our typical bedtime routine. One of the public library books we got a few weeks ago was a children’s book about Anne Frank. I have always been very interested in WWII and the Holocaust, and “The Diary of Anne Frank” is one of my all-time favorite books. This version is very informative for little’s, without getting too dark and deep, and actually stops before the concentration camp part, and mainly goes through their time hiding. Anyways, she was very interested in the book, and took it very seriously, and wanted to know more. I told her she had to wait until she was a little older, and then she stated she would definitely want to read the “real book.”
Somehow, the kitchen sink is already totally full of dirty dishes, even though it’s only Monday and I’ve only cooked one time since I last took care of everything a few days ago. So now I need to go wash up as much as I can, before I can sit down and relax…
