Finally Saturday

After being home and off work for three days in a row already, today was finally Saturday, which just felt so strange! After Emmie’s sleepover with her triplet cousins at Grammy & Papa’s house, we had a quieter-than-usual early morning, with just one little girl in the house. But we had some breakfast, and got dressed, and went back over to pick her up. The girls were watching for Aunt Meggie to get there too.

We stayed about an hour, and let the girls have snacks and run around playing together for a while.

Then we made a quick stop by Uncle Keith’s house, to share a small bowl of last night’s Cincinnati Chili, just because I wanted him to try it. (I also left a small bowl with Papa this morning too, so he could try it as well.) The girls loved petting and playing with Bella, and Addison was just so sweet and giggly. Emmie loved throwing toys for her, and having her fetch and return.

I was feeling brave on the way home and decided to stop for lunch with just me and the girls, since Jeff was out working at his side job again today. I really wanted to go to Hopkins (my favorite local sandwich shop), but they were closed, so we went around the corner to Jersey Mike’s. It was really good still, and the girls ate really well.

But by that time, poor little Addie Pie was exhausted, and just couldn’t hang anymore! She fell asleep in the car of course, and luckily I was able to lay her right down in her crib once we got in the house. I also got Emmie down for a nap, and both girls slept for a couple of hours.

I spent about 20 minutes scrolling TikTok, and then I listened to my audio book while working on my puzzle. Slowly but surely, we’ve been making some progress, but wow I’ve still got wayyy more to go.

Then when Emerson woke up, so got out this little activity mat that uses water in the markers instead of ink, and she loved doing this in the dining room with me while I did my puzzle, with this cute bookstore cafe music video on YouTube.

I eventually sat on the floor and colored and played with Emmie, and then we heard Addie start waking up, so we went on back to her room. Emerson climbed in the crib with Addison, and they stayed in there playing together, loving on each other, for like, 20 minutes.

We went to just wander around the front yard to get some fresh air, when we knew it was getting close to time for Jeff to be home.

Then we all took a grocery shopping trip to Aldi together. We actually shopped for both this week and next week, since we’ll be out of town this coming weekend. I didn’t go in with a list though, I was just making up meals in my head as we found stuff to try, so hopefully we will actually have what we need for two weeks, even if we need to get just a few little things next Sunday night.

Had to bust into the cookies before we even paid for them. The cashier girl was literally like, “Oh these are open, we’ll grab you a new pack,” so we had to say, “Oh no that’s fine, we’re the ones that opened them – this baby is eating one right this second.” It was funny.

After quickly dropping off all the groceries and getting the cold stuff put away, we went right back out for dinner at El Rincon, for some Columbian food.

I got the skirt steak version of the chicken dish I usually order, and this was super good as well.

While I took care of getting the girls into the bathtub and all cleaned up, Jeff gave Pretzel his meds, started a load of laundry, and did something else I can’t remember. Emmie and I cuddled on the couch watching “Zootopia” on Disney+, and Jeff held Addie while she had some milk and started falling asleep.

I’m going back to work on my puzzle a little bit more, and then plop down on the couch to veg out for a while before bedtime…
