Field Trip

Addison did so good with her first day in her new class, with her new teachers, and we had a good drop-off. (And yes, I went back to the car and found her missing shoe in her car seat before we went inside.)

And Emerson was so excited for her day spent with Uncle Keith! I had no idea of all the things they had planned to do today, but the surely lived it up, and even went on a field trip to Wakulla Springs!

Vacuuming Aunt Suzanne’s car, for her birthday 🙂

Convinced him to get her this little doggie beanie baby. She told me later, “It was only $10, so it was easy to buy.”

A family there near them let her use this little tiny net, and she actually caught a teeny little fish in it!!

They also took a boat ride, saw tons of birds, a few gators, and even a manatee!

And then they finished their day with a quick dip in Grammy’s pool late this afternoon.

And like I said, Addison had a great first day in her new classroom, and we got good pictures of her through the day!

While reading through comments on an Instagram post about celebrity memoirs last week, I saw a comment about this Hilarie Burton book. I was a huge “One Tree Hill” fan back in the day, but hadn’t kept up with her, or even that she had written a book. So I immediately switched over to Libby to see if the library had the audiobook (because I just knew I wanted to listen to her narrate it herself in her deepy, gravelly voice that I actually love), and not only did my library have it, but it was available. I checked it out immediately, and made short work on this quick little 7-hour audio the past few days. I really enjoyed it – it was emotional, and vulnerable, and witty, and made me actually laugh out loud a few times. Great memoir! (Also, I just loved that cover art!)

After picking up both girls after work today, we headed home and I made meatball subs and bleu cheese salads for dinner for Jeff and I, and meatballs and buttered rice for the girls. But these sammies were delicious and cheesy and so good.

We were playing in Addie’s room for a while after dinner, and Emmie and I were playing some sort of game she was making up, and she was passing out these hair clips as awards and prizes. So look closely and you can see we all have Addie’s hair clips in 😉

Jeff took care of putting Addison to sleep, and I read Emerson a chapter of “Matilda” all cuddled up in my bed.

Addison went to sleep easily tonight, and although Emerson was exhausted, she kept coming back wanting more loves and more cuddles. So I think it was about 9:30 pm by the time she finally settled down and went to sleep.

Heading off to finish the dishes (after just writing two back-to-back blog posts, yesterday’s & today’s, while watching the new Shania Twain documentary on Netflix), and then try to settle down and get some rest for myself.
