Foxy Girl

This little spaghetti strap shirt with daisy pants was always one of my favorite outfits of Emerson’s, and I love it on Addison too!

Grammy took off work to take care of Emerson today, with the help of Grandmommie too of course!

And Little Miss really lived it up again today! She had told Grammy over the weekend she wanted to go swimming two times, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, and of course they made that happen. And the afternoon swim time was actually two hours!

And Addison had another great day in her new class at school!

Pick-up and meet-up was all together at growing room today, with all five girls, two grandparents & two moms, and it was so loud and fun and exciting.

We had mini chicken tacos from Trader Joe’s tonight, with yellow rice and black beans, and I mixed up some dipping sauces with sour cream and two different kinds of salsa.

Even after Addison finished everything I had put on her plate, she insisted she needed her own taco, whole and not cut up, so she could gnaw and nibble on it.

We did bath time after dinner, and then Jeff took care of Addison, while Emerson and I took care of lots of back-to-school things, like laying out outfits for the rest of the week, packing her backpack with the last couple things, and reading some first-day-of-school books together.

I got very emotional tonight reading our first day of school books, and reading this sweet little devotional book Grammy & Papa gave her. It was an Olympic feat tonight to not cry, but I knew that if I shed even one single tear, we would both end up in a full-on meltdown. She was a little sensitive and emotional tonight, and I could tell she was nervous. We talked about everything as much as we could, and prayed for her to have a good first day, to be brave, and to make new friends. She said, “I hope some people come up to me and say they want to be friends.” And I said, “Maybe that will happen, but you can also find someone you think looks nice, and walk up to them and say you want to be friends.” She agreed she could do that, and I’m really hoping she quickly hits her stride, and almost immediately starts to find her people.

Grammy took her to Books-A-Million today to get this cute book, and Emerson also talked her into getting her this fox sleeping mask she’s been eyeing the last few times we’ve been in there. It’s adorable, and even matches her cute fall/fox sheets Nana got her last weekend. The cutest little foxy girl!

Emmie was so super tired after her day spent mostly in the swimming pool, so she was already starting to fall asleep as I was singing, which she never does anymore. And by just a few minutes later, she was totally and completely conked out, mask over her eyes, totally splayed out like a starfish in her bed. Addison was also exhausted, and fell asleep very easily all flopped out on Daddy’s chest tonight.

I scooped her off of him and got cuddles and loves and kisses while walking back to her room to lay her down in her crib for the night.

I’m so proud of myself for not crying earlier, that I will reward myself with some ice cream and allow myself to just sit in my feelings tonight, so that I can be strong for Emerson at kindergarten drop-off tomorrow! I’m already so nervous about that (we can’t even get out of the car with her!), so we would appreciate your prayers for that situation specifically, as well as the whole day too, obviously.
