Emotional Support Washcloths

Addie’s hair was floofy, and she was toting around her “emotional support washcloths” that she found in the bathroom and decided she just couldn’t leave behind 🙂

She wouldn’t let us leave them at home, and then she wouldn’t let us leave them in the car, and she wouldn’t even let Aunt Meggie take them from her! So she still had them when I dropped her off in her classroom

Today was supposed to be “groovy day” for Emerson, but she didn’t like the floral dress I picked out for her (even though it would have been perfect), so she threw a fit, and ended up changing after I left, and picked a shirt out of her hamper that she wore the other day, because it had a big peace sign on it. And clearly she was still grumpy at drop-off at school. But Jeff said she did eventually cheer up a little bit and run off into school.

Mama, Megan, Aunt Suzanne and I all met up for lunch together today at Surchero’s, for our first working girls lunch in a long time. We had delicious food (carnitas grilled burrito for me), and lots of good conversations, and caught up on lots of things.

Jeff actually went to pick up the girls today, getting Emerson first, and then the two of them went in to get Addison together.

I went straight home after work and started cleaning up the kitchen and getting started on dinner. Jeff was entertaining the girls while I was cooking, and brought in this little giggling box full of Addie Pie.

We had breakfast for dinner tonight – scrambled eggs, bacon, air-fried hash browns, and peaches. Everyone ate so well tonight, and Emmie even cleaned her plate and ate more after that.

We let Jeff run off to some sort of IT-nerd meetup group thingamajig (clearly I don’t know what it really was) after dinner, so the girls and I hung out in the backyard for a while. Then we hung out in Addie’s room, and had a video call with Grammy, Papa & Grandmommie, where the girls were just squeaking and squealing and so excited to see them.

Jeff didn’t get home until right around 8:45pm, and it was just impossible for me to get the girls to sleep before then. (I tried, but Addie just wasn’t having it.) So instead, we just waited up for him, and then split up for me to get Emmie down, and him to rock Addie. Then everything went perfectly smooth at that point, and they were both asleep quickly and easily.

Now it’s finally time to just go sit down and relax for a little bit.
