Emerson’s Day at the Beach

Emerson has been dying to go to the beach for over a month now, but with the arrival of our newest girl, we kept having to put it off. But today, Daddy and Nana loaded up and took her down to St, George Island for a few hours! Addison and I stayed home and had the day to ourselves, and although we missed the beach, I just wasn’t ready to brave that yet, especially since I have not supposed to swim yet still.

And today, Addison Laurel is exactly one month old! This has honestly felt like a really fast month, and it feels like just a day or two ago that I was still in the hospital after my C-section. But we’ve had a really great first month. Not only have we all fallen in love with her, of course, but we’ve gotten into a pretty good groove of having two little girls at home.

She has also gained just over 2 pounds in her first month which is incredible! She was born 6lbs 4oz, and is now 8lbs 6oz, and is in the 25th percentile. She is still wearing newborn size clothes and diapers, but I have a feeling in the next week or two, will be moving up out of the newborn stuff!

Her and I also found time for a walk today right after lunch, but dang it was wayy too hot then, and we were both sweating by the time we got back to the house. But after cooling off and having a bottle and snuggling for a little bit on the couch, I was able to get her swaddled and back in her bassinet right around the time that Jeff and Nana and Emerson were getting back from their beach trip…

And here are all of the pictures from their beach trip! Looks like so much fun!

They got home around 4:00 pm, and we just had a really chill late afternoon / evening after that. Jeff and I took turns eating dinner, while the other fed or held Addison, and then I got Emerson in the bathtub. We watched a little bit of “Raya and the Last Dragon” on Disney+ after bath time, and then I read Emerson her nighttime story next to baby sister.

Emmie was a little crazy and silly at bedtime, but she wasn’t grumpy or difficult, so bedtime went fine. Jeff is of course exhausted from the drive and the day in the sun and water, so he’s having a short nap, before taking the middle of the night bottle feeding in a little while. Addison is still asleep on her poppy next to me, so I’m going to just hang out and watch a little TV until it’s my turn to go to bed.
