First this this morning, I put this Mississippi Roast into the crock-pot for our dinner tonight.
And then after that, we went into Emmie’s bedroom to wake her up by singing “Happy Birthday!” She was so sweet and sleepy and just very pleased with Mommy & Daddy singing to her.
She was also very pleased with her special birthday outfit!! Nana got her these pants, and I ordered the shirt from Amazon, and she was too adorable! She was in the happiest little mood, and literally RAN into school after taking our morning photos.
Today was my half-day in the office, and I loaded up on some more work for the next few weeks. We were actually told today that we’re all being brought back into the office, and our telework agreements are being cancelled as of July 31st. Honestly, I’m not ready for that though! I’ve loved working from home, and have just enjoyed extra time in my cozy house.
Emerson got her very first 3-year-old present from Ms. Q today at school! Some of y’all remember how much these two love each other. She was Emmie’s teach for over a year, but that was over a year ago. But they both still love each other, and Q spoils her still! and she got her a great gift! I am so glad and grateful for amazing teachers in her life that love her so much.
Throughout the day, we had multiple video calls with so many family members, so that all of them could wish Emerson a happy birthday!
I picked Emerson up early from school today, to take her to her 3-year check-up with Dr. Abby. We had to wait in the car instead of in the waiting room, so I hopped in the backseat with her and she showed me her present from Q, and then I let her eat some gummies before it was our turn to go inside.
At three years old, my teeny tiny peanut girl is a whopping 25 pounds (4th percentile) and 35 inches tall (5th percentile). She may be a widdle tiny girl, but she’s got a personality the size of Texas! Dr. Abby is not the least bit concerned with her small size though, because she’s stayed consistent on her own little growth curve, and is very healthy!
Dr. Abby had a nice little convo with Emmie about going pee-pee in the potty while we were there too. She asked Emerson if she liked to go potty, and if she would try to go at home, and Emmie just gave her this sly, funny little face, like she totally knew what she was up to. Abby thinks it’s just gonna have to wait until she’s ready to do it on her own, whenever that might be….
Back at home, I finally made that no-knead rosemary bread I’ve been wanting to make! Ryan and I actually started it last night (it has to sit in a covered bowl for 18-24 hours), and then today I moved it to the buttered and floured cast iron to rest for two more hours under a tea towel.
While the bread and roasted carrots were baking away, Emmie and I went out for a walk and some outdoor playtime. She was running around like a crazy woman, and at one point when I asked if she was ready to go back inside, she said, “No! I wanna play forever!”
These are some of the new hair accessories from Ms. Q. She picked out the ones she wanted me to use, and told me she wanted a bun, so this is what we ended up with. It’s pretty cute, but I definitely need some more practice fixing up little girl hair!
Ryan made Emmie a fort and kept her occupied, while I finished up dinner, making up some mashed potatoes and green beans, to go with our pot roast, roasted ranch carrots, and fresh baked bread. I got a little fancy tonight, in honor of Emerson’s birthday, and everything turned out soooo good!
Emerson specially requested cupcakes for her birthday treat, so we got the girl some cupcakes! And Daddy decided we needed ice cream to go with it too 🙂
We watched some Baby Yoda videos and funny songs, and she danced around and ran laps and hopped like a bunny, for a solid 15 minutes, trying to run off some of sugar high.
And of course I absolutely had to have a selfie with my birthday girl. I just love her so very stinking much!!
She was mostly good at bedtime, although she was definitely still riled up and it took some doing to get her settled down enough to sleep. I didn’t have any sort of meltdown tonight about her being another year older (like I have on other occasions), but I did give her all the extra hugs and snuggles and kisses, and tell her I love her only about 50 times.
Jeff and the boys worked on laundry and dishes while I put her to bed and wrote this blog, so my job for the night is done! We never started the next Star Wars movie last night, but I think we’re going to get started on it now.
