Today is my baby girl’s second birthday! As cliche as this sounds, I can’t believe it’s finally happened, or how fast these past two years have gone. It’s crazy! For a special treat, we left home early and took her to get donuts (her favorite breakfast, thanks to Papa), for her special day!
And then we did school drop-off, and took a few more photos outside before heading in.
I had more leftover pizza & salad for lunch. And even though the salad didn’t hold as well in the fridge with the dressing on it, it was still yummy.
Here are some photos we got from her teachers today.
I finished the audio book on the way home (3 stars), and I think I’ll try to make a recipe or two of hers, but maybe wait till after the boys leave, since they’re a little more “unique,” and I don’t know if they would like them.
And then I immediately went to my holds section to start the next audio book on my “shelf.” This is another one from Anne Bogel’s summer reading list, so it should be good.
OK, now back to Emmie 🙂 This was our Facebook birth announcement from two years ago, on the day she was born! And click here to read the blog post from her first birthday, on this date last year!
And now here are her two-year-old photos I took tonight! These past two years have been the best of my life. And even though it’s not all rainbows, sprinkles & baby giggles, she is the absolute BEST girl, and the light of my life. Everyone says it, but I honestly don’t know how we got here so fast, when she was just born like, yesterday!
She weighs 20lbs, is wearing size 12m clothes, size 3 diapers, and sleeps through the night 90% of the time, but still fights nap time. She RUNS everywhere. She is super chatty and knows lots of words. She has started getting shy around people outside of our family, but once she warms up to you, she loves you. And everyone loves her! She loves “baa baa black sheep,” and is still obsessed with “Moana.”
She is my pride and joy, and I am so thankful God blessed me with this tiny angel girl!
After our mini photo shoot, we had a quick video call with Grammy & Pepaw! Emerson got distracted though, and wanted a brownie. And since it was her birthday, I gave in. (Although I didn’t protest to much.) But once she saw how messy she was in the camera, her reaction was so funny!
We did a tag-team to get dinner done (Ryan & I started, the Jeff & Gabe finished), and we had delicious pasta! Once she saw her plate on the table, she got super excited and said, “noooodlesss!”
And then we had Publix cupcakes the Daddy brought home. Emmie was a little unsure about it, but once she realized she could stick her finger straight into the icing (that we scraped off because we thought she would eat the cupcake better without it), she was excited about that!
We had a bit of playtime after dinner, and then a video call from Nana & PopPop, followed by one from Aunt Meggie as well.
At the end of Meggie’s call though, Emmie had a little toddler meltdown that lasted on & off for about an hour. She did give her brothers super sweet hugs & kisses, and then she read her bedtime books to them. And then it took another 40 minutes to get her to the point she would let us lay her down in her bed. (Jeff tried for 20, then I came in for 20, and I finally had to talk her into it again like I did last night.)
Like I said before, I honestly don’t know how she’s been in this world for two whole years already. It seems like two seconds! (Oh and also, if you want to read her birth story, it’s in three long blog posts – Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.) Putting off dishes tonight, since it’s kind of late already, in favor of the season one finale of “Stranger Things,” that the boys have just absolutely itching to watch all day!
