Cuban Lunch & Shopping Trip

We got to sleep in until 7am today, which is over an hour later than a weekday, so although it’s still early, it’s later than usual. Then I made up some scrambled eggs for sammies for everyone for breakfast. (Addison broke her lamp last night, right at the end of the video of Emmie saying her Bible verse, so Jeff super glued it back together, so that’s why it’s sitting on the kitchen counter.)

Then Jeff got ready and went out to do some IT work for some of his side jobs, and the girls and I got ready to spend the day with Nana. Look how beautiful these two girls are! 😍

We did some back-to-school shopping to get Emerson some new things for Kindergarten, at Old Navy, Carter’s, and Marshall’s.

We really racked up at Old Navy the most, because they had SO much stuff on clearance, so we were able to find tons of stuff there, including a couple of matching bathing suits for both girls.

Jeff and Dave came out to meet us for lunch at Habana’s Boardwalk. Jeff and I were both craving Cuban food, and although the rest of them had all been there many times through the years, this was actually my first time. And it was delicious. Absolutely loved it.

I ordered the Vaca Frita (which is shredded beef grilled with mojo & onions), and I chose moros and maduros for my sides, and the fresh lime on top of everything was just perfect. I absolutely loved this, and found the best way to eat it was a little bit of everything on the fork in one bite. Mmm, so good!

Jeff got the Bistek de Palomilla, with moros and tostones, and his came with a cilantro lime sauce that I ended up taking, because he doesn’t like cilantro. His was good, but mine was better 😉

Jeff went back to some of his side jobs, and the girls and I went back to Nana & PopPop’s house. Emerson and I napped together, and Nana got Addison to sleep, and they just stayed in the recliner together the whole time.

So the story with this fancy dress, is that Nana’s hairdresser/friend (and also Grammy’s hairdresser) wore this as a flower girl in a wedding in the 70’s, and recently found it while cleaning out their house for DIY new flooring. She thought Emerson would like to have it to use for dress-up, so she gave it to Nana for Emerson. And it fit her absolutely perfectly! It was so beautiful on her!

We played for a little while during the thunderstorm, and then once it calmed down we headed out to Costco for some of Nana’s weekly groceries.

We also got a pizza to take home, and some smoothies to share while we waited on them to bake our pizza fresh.

This gigantic huge pizza was only $9.99, and it really was super cheesy and really yummy.

Jeff did actually come back to their house long enough to eat some pizza with us, and help me load up the girls in the car, before he headed out to work more. I took the girls home and got them in the bath, and then in some clean jammies. Emerson picked out her bedtime snack, and I held and rocked Addison while she drank her bottle of milk. Then we went through Emmie’s bedtime all together, and she actually read the mermaid book to Addison tonight.

After lullabies & prayers, we turned off Emmie’s lamp and I tucked her in for bed. I took Addie back up front to rock her to sleep, and then laid her down after about 15 minutes.

But when I walked by Emerson’s room to lay Addison down, she had her lamp back on and she was singing to herself and rearranging all of her stuffy’s. I said, “Hey, what are you doing kid?” And she was like, “Oh, I’m just making my bed nice.” So here she is, with her things all lined up and tidy.

She fell asleep quickly after that though, so all is good. I’m heading to work on my puzzle, which I’ve accidentally been neglecting a lot, and probably watch a movie or something on my phone while I work on that.
