Cousin Surprise!

Although we really wished we could have spent this Memorial Day Weekend at the pool or the beach, the weather was just not cooperating today. We still made the most of our family time together though though! Starting with Elsa helping me make a breakfast casserole first thing this morning, with the fresh eggs I got from a church friend yesterday.

I started this puzzle last night, and finished it before I even went to bed! It was a super easy one though, with only 300 large pieces, so it went by really quickly and easily, and it was fun! I got this one second-hand from a Little Free Library, and all the pieces were inside a gallon ziplock baggie, but it was missing one piece.

But then when I opened the box again to start putting it away, I found that last piece, just loose-leaf in the box! So Emmie wanted to put in that last piece.

We spent most of the morning and early afternoon at home just having a slow, restful day – reading, puzzling, playing, watching shows, and just chillin’ watching the rain.

We scrounged up a small lunch from the fridge, basically just cleaning up some leftovers, and then got dressed and ready. Jeff had left his car in my office garage on Friday when it was running kinda bad, and he didn’t want to get stranded out and about with the girls. So we went back today for him to work on it quickly, since he already had the parts and tools he needed. Luckily, it really did only take 20-ish minutes, so while he did that, the girls ran wild and I walked a couple laps around the parking deck. But he got it up and running again just fine!

Then we hit up the Goodwill out on the Parkway, to take some donations of our own, and browse around for anything else. We found some books, and some clothes, but the real find was a $300 IKEA chair for only $30, in near-perfect condition!

And it turned out we were lucky we were in two cars, so we could take out the girls’ carseats and lay my seats flat, to fit the chair in the back of my car to get it home.

We dropped off the chair and the few other things we thrifted, and then headed out to Nana & PopPop’s house. On our way, we made a slight detour through another Havana neighborhood, to visit a LFL my friend Emmy told me about. And we found two vintage Babysitter’s Club books for Emmie, and left a few books there as well.

We met up at Nana & PopPop’s house, and then went out to dinner El Jalisco up there.

And their cousin Andersen is her visiting for the next week! Jeff’s parents just got back today from a long 10-day trip, which included visits to Tennessee and Ohio to see two of their grandchildren graduate high school. And then Andie, who is 14, came down to Florida with them to hang out for the next week! We kept it as a surprise for the girls, and they were SO excited to see her when we got there!

We went back to their house for a while after dinner and the girls all played together so sweetly, having so much fun. We stayed late letting them play as long as possible, before finally heading back home, for a late bedtime. They were very sleepy though, so bedtime was a breeze! All three girls will be hanging out with Nana & PopPop all week together, so I know they’re in for lots of fun!
