Compass Rose

Emerson is very proud of her Florida map project, and loves the way it turned out! (Even though we technically painted water around the whole thing on accident… But she didn’t realize our mistake and I didn’t point it out either. We’re just gonna say it was just an “outline” of the state 🤣)

We went down the list of the grading rubric last night, checking off each item, so hopefully she’ll get a 100! When we came to “compass rose” on the list, I said, “Compass rose?” And she was like, “You don’t know what that is!?” SO I said, “Well, I know what a compass is, but I just didn’t know this part was a called a compass rose specifically!” And she just laughed at me!
When she got home tonight, she actually told me that her teacher chose two projects out of all 40+ to add to the glass showcase gallery in the hallway, and Emerson’s was one of them!

Since I finished my book at gymnastics last night, I brought a new one with me to the office today to get started on during my lunch break. It looks like such a cute, cozy fantasy. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a few cute Valentine’s from Emerson tucked into my book 🙂

Jeff went out and about on his lunch break, and ended up back at home and took Pennie for a little walk around the neighborhood. And just look at her big smile, she was so happy!

Emerson requested Cook Out for dinner tonight, because she loved those cheese bites I got her after gymnastics earlier this week, and was dying for more of them.

It was literally like 60 degrees in there though, so we had to bring in blankets from the car (leftover from our road trip a couple weeks ago), and the girls cuddled up very sweetly together trying to stay warm while waiting for the food. I was also freezing, and wishing for a sweater and some warm slippers!

They both ate super well tonight, but especially Emerson. She ordered the jr. tray with a burger and a double order of cheese bites, and a milkshake, and she ate everything except a few tiny bites of burger.

At home tonight, we got busy on some much needed chores around the house, cleaning up all sorts of things here and there. We gave the girls the special task of wiping down and cleaning up the white legs of the dining table, in the middle of their playtime, so we had Anna and the Vet cleaning up for us 😄

We stayed up late working and playing and then the girls were so exhausted at bedtime, they fell asleep within our very first song on the lullaby list. Now Jeff and I are exhausted too, so we’re gonna laze about the living room for a little while before plodding off to bed ourselves.
