Caramel Crisps

If you give a girl a wipe, she’ll be content and less clingy at drop-off 🤣

I finished another audio book on the way to school this morning, and overall I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. I chose to read this one because Anne Bogel included it in her 2019 Summer Reading Guide. I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not, but much to my surprise, I really did. I don’t really follow or care for the royal family and everything surrounding them (although I do know some people just love that kind of stuff), so I was worried I wouldn’t be interested in a story about the royal wedding dress from 1947. The story however, is not actually about the royal family, but about two of the women who embroidered the wedding dress. Of course the womens’ stories meet up with the royal story, but that’s brief. It’s more about life after the war, close female friendships, and persevering through incredibly difficult experiences. There was way more to this book than I went into it expecting, and it was a pleasant surprise. It was also a good mix of “historical fiction” & “women’s fiction.” Very much enjoyed this book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

For lunch I had a delicious pimento cheese sandwich, with kiwi, plum, yogurt & pretzels. And now I’m on page 330 of 470 – still making progress, but it’s due Saturday, so I’ve got a lot more reading to do!

Here are some photos from school.

Drama queen!

Ok now in this photo, she’s wearing something random from the dress-up clothes, and her friends shoes! (The girl bending down next to her.) No idea why Emerson took off her own shoes, only to put in someone else’s? She’s a weirdo!

She wanted to check out the grass & this bush before getting in the car after school, and who am I to deny her what she wants?!

And at home, she thought she wanted to walk to the mailbox barefoot again. She actually made it all the way up, but then needed to hold me on the way back down, so we stopped to check on our orange tree.

This girl loves chips, so I decided we should try a healthier alternative. These were BOGO at Publix last week, so I got a bag of caramel & one of cheddar, and they’re a hit!

We had Trader Joe’s chicken tamales and street corn for dinner, with some chips & salsa. This was my first time buying these TJ’s items, and they were yummy!

She wanted the outdoor watermelon blanket on the inside couch again, so we watched a couple of the kids YouTube videos she likes. (This one & this one are her current faves.)

We have a tendency to “store” random items in the boys’ room when they’re not here, and things pile up in there. Well Jeff is driving to get them this coming Saturday, and they’ll be here for six weeks straight. So tonight we got in there to take care of that stuff, plus do a little extra cleaning. Emerson found a few things she liked – like some dinosaurs (which are now in her own room), and this random mask that I think was probably from a Happy Meal. But she loved it!

She also found this inflatable flamingo from her 1st birthday party last year, and this little baby walker thing that she doesn’t need anymore.

We skipped her bath time tonight, because she was in one of those extremely sensitive toddler moods, where she would get upset & cry about the tiniest little thing. Bath time is still on shaky ground around here, so I figured it wasn’t worth the fight. She’s been fighting bedtime for about 40 minutes so far, and Jeff and I have both taken turns getting her to calm down and quiet down, and let us lay her down. She didn’t sleep well last night (woke up about 3 different times), so we’re really praying we can get her down soon, and that she sleeps through the night!

I did things backwards tonight, by blogging first, so now I’m off to go wash the dishes and tidy up a bit.
