Candy Land

Loving this literal ray of sunshine on my sunny little girlies this morning!

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week at NFC, with a “Greatest Show on Earth” theme (I believe?), so they had this cute little tent set up outside the preschool rooms today.

Emerson had an orthodontist appointment to check how her teeth are doing with her twin block appliance. She also had x-rays today. And then the doctor came over and was very happy with Emmie’s progress so far. Her overbite started out at a 9, and just since August, it’s decreased down to a 5, and that’s a very good thing!

We had a bit of a crazy evening tonight… Nana picked up both girls, Jeff picked me up, and then we all, plus PopPop met up at NFC. Then Nana and I took the girls home, and Jeff and Dave went to pick up our new 70’s bamboo dresser. Nana and the girls and I had leftover chicken salad and fruit salad from Addison’s party for our dinner tonight. Emerson was starving, and even after eating a CSS sammich, plus cheese, fruit and fruit dip, she had like 2 more helpings of CSS and 2 more of fruit. Addison also ate really well, eating her whole scoop of CSS, plus stealing fruit right off of mine and Nana’s plates.

Then Nana washed up a ton of dishes (she played a mix of Jenga & Tetris with my drain rack and wayyy too many dishes!) while I cleared off the top of the stove and everything on the shelf underneath it. And the girls were back in Addie’s room, playing her new princess Candy Land together (another birthday gift from Grammy & Papa), being very sweet.

Nana also helped clean up Addison’s bedroom, and hang up some of her clean clothes. Then she read her a book (a birthday gift from me!) and helped her get into her jammies for bedtime.

Meanwhile, during all of that, once Jeff and Dave got the new dresser home, they got started on replacing our stove. They got the old, broken cook top out of the counter top (Nana and I then worked together to clean things up), and then they pulled out the new one. And then in terrible news, it didn’t fit! It was like, the tiniest bit too big for the hole in the counter. Jeff thought about trying to cut the hole slightly bigger to make it work. But I suggested we slow down and see if there IS a smaller size first to maybe exchange it. And then if not, we’ll figure out how to cut into the counter to make this new one fit. But sheesh this is the longest, most ridiculous process….

Both girls are sleeping soundly now, and Jeff is showered and clean and resting too. Looks like it’ll be another couple of weeks of meal-planning using everything but the cook top to make dinner…
