Booked for the Day

After staying up super late last night, reading the new book from the midnight release party, I slept in a little bit this morning, and Jeff and the girls left home before I even woke up.

Today was super hero day for Red Ribbon Week, so Emmie wore her cute little pink cape to school today.

I still only slept until 8am though, so I hopped up to make myself breakfast to fuel a big day of reading! Months ago, I had taken the day off for release day of “Splintered Harmony,” knowing I’d just be dying to read it as soon as possible, and I was very glad to get to spend my day totally “booked!”

After eating my delicious favorite egg-in-the-hole, I put on a cute little Velaris ambiance video on YouTube and settled in with another cup of hot coffee to get back to reading.

I also lit my favorite candle from Laurel Mercantile, that I literally hardly ever burn, because I love it so much but it’s not cheap and I want to savor it for as long as possible! But today was the perfect day for it 🙂

OK I wanted to take a cute picture of the new book with my little Feyre next to the old books, and I literally never realized until writing this post tonight that I had my little set up with the paperbacks of the old books, instead of the hardbacks to match the new book, so they’re not the same size, so that’s kind of annoying, but the new book cover is still so pretty. (And yes, I do own the entire set in both paper & hardback.)

I had the “notify me” tag on the Kindle version and the audio version on Libby from the library. So when I got the notification around 11:30 that my library had added the new title to their catalog, I kept refreshing it every minute or so until it actually became available to check out on audio, because I knew it would be in high demand and end up with a super long wait list very quickly. (It’s a weird glitch I’ve seen happen before, it takes like 30 minutes after the notification comes in until it’s finally available to borrow.) So I grabbed the audio too, so that I can read them both at the same time, and switch back and forth as needed. That also allows me to listen while driving or washing dishes, and read it even faster.

After reading for a couple of hours at home, and a quick lunch, I got dressed and went up to The Frother’s Daughter, for an iced latte and a new reading location for a little bit. I stayed here for about an hour, and then also read out on their outdoor picnic table for a while after they closed.

Went back home and enjoyed the perfect outdoor weather on the back patio, for another reading location.

And then since I was able to listen to my book, I repainted my fingernails, and chose this shimmery Night Court black.

I was super sleepy and fought a nap as long as possible, but by 3:15pm, I just couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore, and so I took a quick little power nap on the couch. I went to pick up the girls from school a little bit early, and we had some time to kill, so I asked what they wanted to do, and Emerson suggested a book store. And obviously I wasn’t gonna say no to that! We went and walked around looking at all the fun, cute stuff, and they were just amazed at everything. A bookstore is truly a magical place! 🙂

Quick dinner at Culver’s again…

Addison took the burger patty & cheese off the bun, folded it in half so it was like a double, and then ate it like that, dipping it in the ketchup. What a little weirdo!

And next up was gymnastics, where I continued to read as much as possible.

Jeff had taken Addison home after her gym class, and was able to get her to sleep before Emerson and I even got home. But then by the time I was trying to get Emerson to sleep, she was having a bit of a rough time falling asleep, so I let her lay on the couch with a calm sleepy YouTube video on, until she finally fell asleep.

I’m gonna go wash up a few dishes, and listen to my audio book a little bit, and then try to get to bed at a more normal time tonight.
