Addison’s VPK Graduation!

Today was a big, exciting day – it was Addison’s VPK Graduation day at NFC! She’s been talking about her “program” for the longest time, practicing her songs and telling us about all their rehearsals. And today was finally the day! We kept Emmie out of school so that she could attend with us as well.

When I asked Addie if her teacher had told her to wear anything specific, she said she was supposed to wear something “shiny.” And luckily, we had this hand-me-down dress from Emmie in Addie’s closet that she hadn’t even worn yet, and she loved it!

They had all these little photos set up on the front of the stage, with a few of these decor pieces. So I grabbed one of the decor pieces and moved it closer to her photo, for a cute little vignette.

When they brought the kiddos out, Addie was all happy and smiley and made it through about half of the first song, doing all the motions and singing along. But then her stage fright set in, and she just totally clammed up!

Emerson had stolen Grammy’s phone, and she was the cutest big sister, taking so many photos and videos of her baby sister, like a proud pageant mom!

And here you can see her little shy self shining through, not singing or smiling or doing any motions. And then she stayed like this through the rest of the program…

They asked all the kids what they wanted to be when they grow and why. And Addie’s answer was that she “wants to be a teacher, because that’s my favorite plan.”

And although she still never did any more motions or singing, she did say her cute little line towards the end of the program, and did a great job with that!

This is Addie’s teacher, Ms. Lord, whom she loves so very much! Every morning when Addison gets there, she runs up to Ms. Lord and hops in her arms, and Ms. Lord says, “It’s fun to be…” and Addie cheers, “FUN SIZE!” And I think that’s the most precious thing! 🙂

My parents, and grandmommie, plus Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Keith all came to the program today too. But all of them had to get going back to work afterwards. But since Nana & PopPop are retired, they had plenty of time to stand around waiting for the crowds to die down and get some photos together.

I had to head into work after our pics, but Nana & PopPop took Jeff and the girls out to breakfast at Cracker Barrel. (Jeff did bring me a plate to-go to my office.) Nana checked out Addie from school for the day, And Emmie decided she wanted to play hooky too. She was supposed to go back to school, but she didn’t have any tests or anything big going on, so they just went back up to their house in Havana and hung out for a while.

Then I left work early, and they met me back up at Southeastern Dermatology, for Emerson’s first derm appointment. The poor girl has had a little cluster of warts on the back of her hand and wrist for quite some time now. It started out as one or two, but they’ve multiplied lately, and none of the at-home remedies have been working. So we saw Morgan the PA, and she was super nice. She gave us like five different options, but ultimately we decided to try the classic freeze-them-off method. (She did also call in a prescription for a cream, if we want to try that route too, depending on the results of the freezing.) It was painful for Emmie, but she was just as brave as she always is, and was a trooper.

We hit up a LFL in the area, but didn’t come away with anything.

And then I let her choose anything as a special afternoon treat for doing such a great job at the derm today. I gave her a few options of things I thought up, and she chose Nuberri for fro-yo. She’s had it before, but not very often, and definitely not recently. The guy working was super nice and let us sample the flavors (even though they don’t do the tiny sample cups anymore), and her and I tried a few of the best-sounding flavors until we made our decisions. She got all the exact same flavors and toppings I got, and we made matching cups. Back in the early 2010’s when I was in college and then freshly graduated, when fro-yo was super popular, I was totally obsessed, and went like, at least once a week or more. I was reminded today of why I loved it so much! And my girl loved it so much too!

Things were a little chaotic after that, with Jeff meeting his parents to pick up his newly repaired car from the shop, and return his dad’s truck to him. Jeff and Addie had to run into Publix for some stuff, and then Emerson requested popcorn chicken so her and I ran into Publix too. We found out at the checkout it was BOGO, so we ran back and got more. Then we headed home, where Jeff had been cleaning out his car a little bit, and we all ate the chicken for dinner. Jeff went to church early, since he was running the sound booth for worship, and then I brought the girls on time for their classes. But then I went back home to wash dishes since I was way behind and needed to handle that but haven’t had the time… Anyways, Jeff and the girls were back home after church, and once the girls got changed, we watched a couple episodes of PB&J and I worked on a puzzle. Then it was time to start bedtime!

Wednesday nights are always late bedtime nights after church, but things went smooth and easy tonight. Now we just hope and pray that tomorrow morning goes smooth and easy as well!
