We headed back to school this morning, and dropped off only Emerson at school…
Then took Addison to our pediatrician’s office to check on her ears again, since she still wasn’t feeling well. They also did flu & covid tests, just to make sure. But since they were going to take about a day to get the results back, her and I ended up just going back home to have a day of rest at home.
She has a snotty nose, and an occasional cough, and only wants to nap while being held. Other than that, she did well today, and we had some time just the two of us, enjoying the peace and quiet and empty house.
She really only wanted me today, and for me to hold and/or play with her, but I did get about 20 minutes while she was in the swing, so I washed up the dishes, and scrubbed the stove & counters. Then throughout the day, I did what I could to just pick up a few things here and there, since I wanted to be productive, but was also carrying a baby on my hip pretty much the whole day.
So random story – a couple days ago, I realized that although I read 70 books in 2021, only one of those books was an actual, physical, hard-copy BOOK. The one book I read was “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” which is technically a screen play, sooo… Anyways, all of the others were Kindle books or audio books that I borrowed from the library.
So although I don’t typically make “new year’s resolutions,” I did decide to try to read some of the actual books from my actual bookshelves that I already own but have never read (plus one of these is one that was loaned from a friend, which is the first in a long series she thinks I would love). So I gathered some of those up today, and my goal will be to read one “physical” book a month this year, including some of these pictured. I already know which one I’m going to start first!
Jeff and Dave got back into town right at 5pm, and Dave dropped Jeff off at Growing Room, for me to pick him up there when I picked up Emerson. And Emerson gave me this when she got to the car, saying her favorite foods were “cheese noodles” and grapes. I asked her what the pink lines were, and she wasn’t really too certain about that…
Nana offered to meet up with me for dinner with the girls, before we knew that the guys would be back in town so early. But we still kept our “dinner date” with her at Peppers, and allowed Jeff to come along. Monday’s special was chicken fajitas, so I got that tonight, and although it wasn’t my fave carnitas as of late, this was still really good.
The girls were wearing new, matching outfits today that Nana got them for Christmas, and I loved these little outfits that say “spread love,” and “be kind.”
We got both girls in their jammies and let Addison play around the living room for a little bit, while the rest of us all had some hot tea. Jeff is still sick, and obviously Addison has a little cold, and now Emerson and I feel like we’re both right on the edge of a cold as well. And since I can’t remember if I said it here yet or not, I did get a call that both Addie’s flu & covid tests were negative today, so that’s a huge praise. It’s just a cold, and she can go back to school tomorrow.
So anyways, since none of us are feeling 100% ourselves, we all had some hot tea. This is the first time Emerson has had hot tea, so I made her peach tea very sweet and not quite as hot, and made her a little more than half a mug, and she finished every sip!
Emmie’s bedtime actually went really smooth and easy tonight, and although Addie actually fought sleep a little bit, she’s down in her crib now, with the cool mist humidifier, Zarbee’s chest rub, and her sound machine, so hopefully she’ll have a good night’s rest. I’m pretty tired myself, so I think I might actually make another cup of hot tea, and then head off to bed soon.
