Addison’s First Birthday!

Today is Addison’s first birthday!! In true second-child-fashion, I didn’t order her a brand new birthday shirt, but I did at least find Emerson’s old hand-me-down onesie for Addie to wear. And that’s kinda sweet in it’s own way 🙂

But just look at these adorable, beautiful, happy, sweet girls!!

And here’s here final monthly photo, and what I posted on IG & FB today.

Addison Laurel is ONE today!! 💜🥳🎂 This past year with our angel baby has been such a joy. She is the most chill, sweetest baby, and honestly she has been very easy and laid back (most of the time 😉). She’s always happy, and always smiling, and loves to laugh and be tickled. She also does this adorable leg kick when she gets exited while you’re holding her, that I really love.

She’s still tiny (somewhere around 17lbs currently, and wearing size 6-9m clothes), but she’s spunky and quick. She doesn’t have any teeth yet, but she did start officially walking this past weekend, just a few days before her birthday. She babbles and giggles and loves her big sister the most, and I love the way Emmie loves and takes care of her.

Happy 1st birthday to my Cinco de Mayo baby, can’t wait for your 1st Fiesta this weekend! 🌮🎉🌵

This week is Corrections Employee Appreciate week, and they’ve been doing little things for us during the week. Today they gave us our annual gift, and it was actually four things, not just one – new tumbler, pen, mouse pad and one of those fancy opens-upside-down umbrellas.

And Addison had such a great day at school for her birthday!

I had planned to make some of our favorite frozen taquitos with the usual yellow rice and black beans, but turns out I just really wasn’t in the mood to actually cook! I called Jeff, and he was like, “I wasn’t in the mood for you to cook either.” So we decided to go out, and although it was Cinco de Mayo and of course I wanted Mexican food, I was way too worried that all the Mexican restaurants would be crazy crowded. So instead, we went to Takko Korean Taqueria, for some Korean tacos, and it was delicious. Also, while we were out there, Aunt Meggie and the triplets video-called to say hi to the birthday baby!

Oh, and we got the girls Chick-fil-A on the way, so they could share an 8-count meal with mac & cheese.

Addie was obsessed with the cup of water we had, and was forcing us to help her drink like this, over and over and over again, for at least 10 minutes straight.

We had a nice time at dinner (even though we’re almost to that point in the year when it’s too hot outside even at 7pm), eating yummy food and being together and having a low-key little birthday dinner for Addie. We headed on home and hung out together just a little bit before starting bedtime, but then that went really smoothly. I spent a long time washing dishes last night, and since I didn’t cook tonight there’s nothing for me to worry about now. So instead, I’m going to go repaint my nails hot pink!
