Today has been a bit of strange day… Jeff encountered some crazy traffic while taking the girls to school, and they had to flip-flop the order and take Emmie first instead of Addie like usual, but they did eventually make it.

And now today, Emerson finally went back to school after Christmas break! And despite the grimace on Addie’s face (this is the best of eight shots Jeff got, but apparently she was just feisty), she was actually happy 🙂

New Year, New Notebook
Although we’re not quite back to our regular schedule, since school hasn’t started yet, I did unfortunately have to go back to work today. To start the new year, I pulled out this cute new notebook I got at Five Below a few months back, and was waiting until the new year to start it. I log/tally all of my phone calls and emails at work every day, keep track of how many assignments I give each of my staff, and use this for emergency calculations and notes and daily reminders.

Happy Herd
Jeff went to church early this morning to serve on the tech team. I had the day off though, so the girls and I just breezed into church about 10 minutes before service started. But these girls were looking so cute today! Emmie was wearing an entirely thrifted outfit (sweater, dress and sandals), and Addie was wearing an entirely hand-me-down outfit from big sister (dress and boots), and both just so adorable.

Rotating Clothes
The morning started off with Addie coming into my room saying, “Mama, I can’t find Emmer?!” I had to remind her she was having her sleepover with Grammy and wasn’t at home… Emmie helped Grammy work on organizing and prepping some things she’s gotten on clearance lately, for next year’s Operation Christmas Child boxes.

Today for breakfast, we had very buttery grits, plus cheese of course, and little maple sausage links. My tiny girl wanted to help out, so she was in charge of the sausage.

Hello, 2026!
The girls actually let us sleep until about 9am today, which was very much needed. Not because we had a wild New Year’s Eve last night or anything, since I personally fell asleep in the recliner before midnight even hit 😉 We had some cereal for breakfast, then turned on a Jonas Brothers playlist on YouTube on the tv, and did some cleaning around the house.
