Weird Wednesday

Well unfortunately, we ended up keeping Addison home again one more day today. So Jeff took care of her first thing, while I got Emmie ready, and did her school drop-off. (Also, she was doing some sort of flip or somersault at school, and got that carpet burn on her face a few days ago.)

We found the perfect parking spot today, and did a little “half walk-up” to the front of the school, and she did absolutely perfectly! No tears, no clinging, no whining – just hugs and loves and she went on her way!

Then I came back home to take care of Addison today, since I had more leave-time than Jeff did. I started with making us some bacon, egg & cheese bagels for breakfast, and cheesy scrambled eggs for Addison. And I also got the crockpot started on some teriyaki beef for our dinner tonight.

And really, Addie was back to her normal self today! Yesterday she was slightly puny and chill, but today she was happy and playful and just fine!

She loves to play on the couch, but then she got really interested in watching “The Lion King” sing-along, and was even clapping along to all the music and songs.

She had chicken and rice for lunch, and then she was ready for naptime right away, and was really easy to get to sleep.

But then we started having some problems… for some reason, I was having the worst stomach cramps and back pains, just out of nowhere. I laid in the recliner, with the heating pad on my back, with my blanket pulled up to my chin, just super uncomfortable and in pain. My brain was racing, and I was like, “What’s happening?! Am I in labor?! Am I having contractions?!” (FYI – I had terrible back-labor with Emmie, so that’s why my brain was going back there…) It lasted a couple of hours, and eventually subsided. I felt weird still for a while, but by dinner time tonight, I was back to normal and ready to eat, since I had skipped lunch.

Meanwhile, I had two missed calls from Gilchrist while I was in & out of sleep during my painful “contractions,” but Jeff got a call from them. Emerson was in the nurse’s office, because every time she tried to go to urinate today, she was crying and not actually going. So Jeff picked her up early, and took her to the doctor, for a UTI test. He took her a good drink to force down some liquids before the test; and it came back clear. However, she did have another little issue in that area they found, that was causing the pain. Only thing we can do is cream/ointment though for a few days, and hopefully she’ll get better quickly.

So Jeff and Emerson got back home right as Addison was waking up from her 3-hour nap, and Emmie needed a popsicle to help her feel better.

We kind of just laid around for an hour or more after they got back home, just being lazy together. Eventually I got up to finish up dinner, making some basmati rice & steamed broccoli. And this was absolutely delicious. We had a whole ordeal with Emerson at dinner time and not wanting to eat it. But long story short, we worked through it, and did eventually eat it once I made her fresh plate, about 20 minutes later…

We didn’t think Addie should go to church tonight, so Jeff stayed home with her. But I didn’t feel up to it either, so I just dropped Emmie off for her little girls class, and went back home to clean up the kitchen, then went back to pick her up an hour later.

Jeff had already gotten Addison to sleep and laid in bed by the time I got back home with Emmie, so we started on her bedtime routine.

Unfortunately though, Addison woke up again around 9pm, and hasn’t wanted us to lay her back down yet, so Jeff’s been rocking her again for a while, while I’ve been writing this post. Hopefully she’ll be ready for the crib soon, so we can lay down and get some rest ourselves. After a really weird week, hopefully we’ll be back to “normal” tomorrow…

I was able to get the border of my next puzzle put together pretty quickly last night actually, despite the sea of monochrome brown & black pieces. So we’ll see how this one goes…

Today was a weird Wednesday, in a long line of weird things happening this whole week. We’re halfway through though, so maybe we’re on the downhill slide of all the weird, bad-luck, health problem, nonsense of this whole week.
