All of Leon County schools were closed today for a “fall holiday,” so that meant Emerson and I had a sweet little mommy & daughter day today. We started by dropping off Addison at school.
Then Emerson and I had a breakfast date together at Waffle House, with smothered hash browns for me and a chocolate chip waffle for Emerson. (Neither of us could finish our rather large meals.) Then we went all over town visiting about 10 Little Free Libraries, and racking up on some little kid books. (Didn’t find any for myself though.)
This particular one was our favorite, because not only was it very well stocked with kids’ books, I also found three vintage Nancy Drew books from the ’50’s, ’60’s, and ’70’s. Plus, it was extremely cute and we loved all the decorations, the painted rocks, and the beautiful flowers surrounding the old newspaper bin turned book-sharing-site.
We had some leftovers for lunch at home (Emmie finished her waffle, and I had pizza from Saturday), and then we met up with our besties Britteny and Elly for a playground play date.
We picked up our weekly Walmart grocery order, and then picked up our baby sister, and stopped at one more Little Free Library on our way back home.
I used air fried chicken nuggets to make chicken Caesar salad wraps, with frozen-and-then-air-fried Checker’s French fries, and it was all really yummy. I was glad I had the random idea for chicken Caesar wraps, because it was so easy and I loved it.
Jeff took the girls for a quick run to Aldi after dinner, and I stayed home to have 20 minutes of quiet time by myself, sitting in a comfy chair and just mindlessly scrolling on my phone. (I needed some alone time to recharge my introvert tendencies before attempting the bedtime shenanigans.)
Addison was super good and sweet at bedtime, but Emerson was clingy and whiny and just a little too overtired from playing so hard all day today.
To end today’s post though, check out this adorable TikTok vlog I made of our day together today. This is only my second time making a TikTok like this, but I really enjoyed the creative process, just had the hardest time picking out the song, and finding one long enough. But look how cute!
