Vet Visit

Tried to get sister pictures with Pennie again today, but she wasn’t having any of it. She actually just wanted to come sit underneath me while I was squatting down, instead of sitting next to the girls.

The sky was verryyy weird this morning. I saw some photos my friends posted from the other side of town with crazy looking clouds and even a beautiful sunrise, but it just looked weird over on my side of town.

Actually, I just went and stole this photo off my friends’ Facebook page to share here…

Jeff got off work at noon today (like most State employees actually), but he had this pre-scheduled to take Pennie to the vet, even before all this storm stuff started happening. We hadn’t taken her to the vet yet since we adopted her over the summer, and we wanted to get her established at the vet and checked out.

Both girls had to be picked up early today, so luckily Nana & PopPop helped us out with that, while Jeff was at the vet, and I was still at the office. (My Bureau is deemed “essential staff,” so we are required to provide “coverage” in order to handle the same immediate cases we process on a daily basis, in case some of those come in even during a hurricane. So while 95% of the building was released at noon, a small handful of us were still there working until 5pm, and I’m one of those lucky ones now as a supervisor.)

Anyways, Jeff stayed home working on washing a few loads of laundry during the afternoon, and once I did finally get off work at 5pm, we went over to Nana & PopPop’s house for a pizza dinner together.

I brought the girls home after dinner, and Jeff went to Sam’s with his parents to buy a few major hurricane essentials for their house, like a generator and (generic) black stone grill. The girls and I had some time to just kinda play and chill and I organized the hurricane snacks Jeff bought last night, and put away the clean dishes from a couple nights ago.

My sweet Emmie fell asleep cuddled up with Pennie girl, and Addie was snuggled up to me on my other side.

We’re still working through washing every single piece of dirty clothing in the house (plus towels and bedding), just in case we lose power for a long time. Jeff did some outside hurricane prep this afternoon, but he’s got a bit more to finish up tomorrow. The State offices and schools are closed, but I’ll have to be signed on and working from home, in case of those immediate situations we have to deal with sometimes. But for tonight, I think it’s time to just settle down and turn off my brain and try to relax a little bit.
