We “treated” ourselves to drive-thru breakfast again this morning, because Emerson asked for the pancake sandwich, which is what Jeff got last time and she loved it. And she ate almost the entire thing!
We spent a little time playing and video calling first Meggie and the babies, and then Grammy & Papa (but when I tried to screenshot them, I accidentally turned my screen off instead), and then we spent about 30 minutes doing some chores around the house.
She loves to drink the very last dregs of the cold coffee.
After working on some more laundry and chores here & there, and then watched church online together. Emmie was cold and wanted to be cozy for lunch, so Jeff made her an egg salad sandwich, and I helped her eat while she stayed all wrapped up.
And then it was her nap time!
We were running a little low on groceries this afternoon, so we made ourselves a very fancy lunch of PB&J, plus Trader Joe’s unexpected cheddar and crackers. Aren’t we fancy?! 🙂 And it was actually very good!
Jeff and I did lots more chores while Emmie napped, one of which was prepping for the final bit of our kitchen painting project, by sanding the window frame and the end of the peninsula (both of which we just kinda forgot somehow…), and then got busy putting two coats of the strong primer on.
But between coats of primer, Emmie really wanted to do her own project. I remembered one of the diaper boxes full of hand-me-downs we got a few weeks ago, was made to take a part and color on the inside. So we had lots of fun with that for a while this afternoon!
And then it was time to get outside and do some water play! We relocated to a new spot at the front edge of the front yard, so that we could have a bigger patch of shade, and it was actually really nice. She played quietly and contentedly on her own, I had music playing on my phone, and I got to enjoy just sitting and watching her entertain herself so sweetly.
We needed a couple new tiny rollers for the top coat latex paint, after we used up all the ones we had on the oil-based Kilz primer. So of course we ran to Home Depot. Emmie had seen this old umbrella stroller folded up in the corner of her room, and decided she needed to ride in it at the store. We looked at new lights for the kitchen, a slightly more modern one, but it wasn’t in stock, so we’ll send Jeff back to get it another time. And I got a new house plant!
We needed dinner while we were out, so we went to our favorite taco place, Tacomora, and it was absolutely delicious. Seriously so, so good.
And even though I look like a wind-blown crazy woman, I love this photo of Emmie looking up at me so sweetly.
Girlfriend was very into the chips & queso, of course. And I don’t blame her, I was very into it too.
We also went by Walmart on the way home just for our grocery pick-up order, and then we got home just in time to get Emmie down for bedtime – after she had some more snacks of course.
She was actually a little difficult to get down tonight, because as usual, she “wasn’t tired,” so she was fighting us, and kept wanting more lullabies and more cuddles and didn’t want us to leave her room. So we both took turns on & off taking care of her, and participating in our Sunday school Zoom class.
And this is my new plant! It’s a “ZZ plant,” and it’s supposedly one of the two easiest indoor plants to take care of. I’ve been on a roll lately, so I’m feeling pretty confident about this new member of our plant family. It was really wet, so that’s why it’s sitting on a plate, but I really wanna find a cute new pot to put it in, rather than this gross tan plastic one.
Oh, and I just found out I won a Facebook giveaway for a $25 gift card to Canopy Road Cafe, which is already one of our favorites! Hooray!
We thought we might finish the whole painting project today, but I think we’ll postpone it at least one more day, and finish up the final coats tomorrow. We’ve had a busy weekend, so now it’s time to settle down and rest a little bit before we head off to bed!
