Two Princesses

Got this accidentally blurry picture of my precious girls before church this morning. One of my friends actually took a picture with me too, but I didn’t love it of myself, so I cut that one from the post 😉

We had a leaders lunch for all of the GC Kids elementary leaders after church. We had Surchero’s catered in, so we had delicious tacos and chips and queso. And we also got some baby Hayden snuggles and smiles.

Before he fell asleep, at least…

We didn’t get home until about 2:30 this afternoon, but we all went down for a late afternoon nap. I had some time to read late this afternoon while the girls played, before we all hopped up to tidy up the living room a little bit.

Pennie was carrying that giant limb around the yard as if it was a small stick. But then she got stuck up on the patio and ended up having to knock over the chairs to get back out in the yard. This dog is crazy and just loves her sticks!

Addie has been very into wearing her dress-up dresses this weekend, and Emerson joined tonight too. They were dancing around and watching Rapunzel, and trying to learn the songs. They know all of the songs from Frozen & Frozen II, but not really from Tangled, so we’re gonna need to put that on in the car and re-watch the movie a few times so they can learn.

Got another new record in the mail this weekend, for our favorite band, Johnnyswim. We have been listening to their music for over a decade now, and went to see them in concert for our 10th wedding anniversary in New Orleans back in 2023. (Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, if you want the recap posts.) Anyways, their newest album was just released this past Friday, and I had actually pre-ordered the record way back in September, and had actually forgotten about it until I got the shipping update email a few days ago. We broke it out and listened to it for the first time at dinner tonight, and it was good, and the girls (especially Addie) were dancing around while they ate.

I put a giant pork roast in the crockpot first thing this morning, so for dinner I just did some rice and green beans to go with it, for a super simple yummy meal. Put the pork on some tiny Hawaiian rolls with barbecue sauce, and everyone ate really well. Emmie ate a second slider, and Addie had seconds of pork & green beans.

Emmie found her tiny digital camera this weekend and charged it today, and went around photographing the whole house tonight after dinner. I particularly loved seeing this adorable little bookshelf photo shoot with the big floppy hat.

The pork roast had been on sale for only $11, and it was HUGE. This giant pile was everything we still had left after we all ate, and after I trimmed off all the fat. So I saved out some for lunches this week, and then froze the majority of it to save for a future meal. Certainly getting our money’s worth out of that hunk of meat.

I spent a long time cleaning up in the kitchen after dinner, and then we got started on bedtime for the girls. Addie actually went down really easily, but Emmie needed some extra snuggles with Daddy before she finally settled down. I am nowhere near done in the kitchen though, so I’m heading back to wash up some more dishes and listen to my audio book.
