Typically, I try to lay out five days worth of outfits for Emerson every Sunday night, but I didn’t do that this week, so most mornings have included me scrambling to put together outfits for her. Today, Emmie and Daddy chose her outfit together, including the shoes, and it’s all quite a look! 😉
Apparently she’s already in training to be a tiny cat lady, with this entire cat lady outfit!
My work friends and I went out for a nice lunch at Harry’s today, to celebrate my birthday. We had a lot of fun, ate amazingly delicious food, and laughed a lot. I got shrimp tacos, and asked if they make it with the “jazzy shrimp” from the appetizer menu, and he said yes, and I was VERY happy with that decision. It was soo good! I only ate about half of the grits & brought the rest with me, but you can bet I ate every single bite of those two tacos!
Looks like my little girl had a fun day at school!
On a completely random note, I came across an article today stating that in 2019, more Americans went to the library than to the movies. Isn’t that crazy? And so cool! And it mostly boils down to $$$. The movies are expensive and the library is FREE! The poll actually shows the amount of library visits were double the amount of movie visits. You know me, and so you know I’m there a couple times a month, on average. Whereas in contrast, I’ve probably only gone to the movie theater once or twice a year in recent years, since having Emerson. Tell me, do any of y’all visit your local library and if so, how does it compare with how often you go to the movies?
Anyways, back to today… Nana had Jeff’s car today, so that she could pick up Emerson after work, and we all met up at Olive Garden for my Pullen family birthday dinner. Since I work just a few blocks away, I went straight there to secure us a table, then read on my Kindle app for just a few minutes while waiting on everyone else to show up. When Nana & Emmie got here, she came in carrying my present for me!
She was thrilled to death to be given fresh bread sticks, almost as soon as we sat down! We also ordered an appetizer sampler plate, which was really yummy.
My chicken parm was delish, but after bread sticks, apps, and salad (plus a big lunch) I was already so full! I ate one piece of chicken, like two bites of pasta, and threw in the towel.
And their kids meals were some of the biggest I’ve even seen. Her order of mac & cheese came with two sides, so we got her grapes & fries, and it was just a huge plate of food! She also got a little crazy with her little ketchup cup…
She was modeling my new purse (part of my gift from the in-laws), and wearing my work ID badge, and just looking like a cute little State-worker-cat-lady! (Look closely, she had green marker on her face near her eye, from art time at school.)
We hadn’t planned to go to their house afterwards, but Emmie got sad when she heard that, so we ended up just going over for a short after-dinner-visit. Nana showed her some pictures from when Jeff and his brothers were younger, and Emerson actually thought they were her brothers.
At home, it was straight into jammies for bedtime. She was still being so super silly and giggly, and we had a hard time convincing her to calm down. All through books and prayers, she was still acting a cute & silly, and didn’t finally chill out until the lullabies started.
But once we did lullabies, she was super calm and sleepy and heavy and warm on my chest. I laid her down and sang “Jesus Loves Me,” and then she was ready to fall asleep. I had a free dessert coupon for Olive Garden, so I got a slice of chocolate mousse pie to-go, and now I think I hear it calling my name from the fridge…
