Sunday school and church were both great this morning. My ensemble got to sing our song again from the Singing Christmas Tree, so we had a little reunion, just two weeks after the Tree. And we did a great job, if I do say so myself 🙂
The family went out for lunch afterwards at Willie Jewel’s and had delicious barbecue.
Emmie was getting a little antsy towards to end, so Uncle Keith took her to walk around outside. They went up the big hill, and Emmie thought it was the funniest thing to run back down it!
I wanted to make sure to get a good photo of her in her new dress, so we took some outside when we got home, on the sidewalk across from our house.
Also, she had the best curls today, and they were just killing me!
Mommy was also wearing a new dress today – both of ours were from Old Navy, and I think the simple cotton dress is both of our signature “looks.”
Emmie took a somewhat short nap today, while I worked on making a new 2020 Shutterfly calendar. I’m super particular about it, so it takes me hours and houuurrrs to get it just right. After Emmie woke up, we played a little and watched some videos, and when she wanted a snack, we shared some Twizzlers from my Christmas stocking.
We started out doing her new Look & Find book together, and then she was holding Chewie like a baby, and then she ended up reading books to Chewie.
We decided to get out of the house, to go see one more round of Christmas lights, since we hadn’t yet been to Dorothy B. Oven park. It wasn’t crowded, and it was just overcast enough to see the lights, but we didn’t have to keep her out too late for it to get dark. And Emerson loved it! However, we were concerned there was no Jesus in the manger!
When she saw this, she said, “Look Mommy, it’s the ABC’s!”
We came back home to clean up a hodge podge of leftovers for dinner, everything from BBQ to chicken & rice to cheese noodles. But it was good, and everyone had their fill. My phone was dead though after so many photos and videos at the park, so it was charging up while we ate dinner and played together, and looked at pictures on the computer. We watched a few night-night videos, and then got Emmie dressed for bedtime.
She wanted all of us to sit on the floor together to read her bedtime books, and she said we needed to leave space for Baby Ellie Grace. So that spot in the middle of all of us down below is the spot she was saving for Ellie. She asked where she was, so I told her at home with Aunt Meggie, and then she just pretended she was there with us anyways, and made sure she could see the bedtime book! 🙂
She needed an extra lullaby or two or three tonight, but she was really sweet about it, so I didn’t mind staying with her for a few extra minutes.
Jeff just made us orange & cinnamon spice tea and brought mine to me while I work on the computer. I’ve gotta get back to fixing up my 2020 Shutterfly calendar now, because I have a free gift that expires tonight at midnight, so I’ve got a lot of work to do in the next few hours!
