Stone Age Babies

So all last week, Emerson woke up wayyy too early, at like 6:30 pm, when we could have been sleeping in since we were off work for six days straight. Then yesterday, she slept until 8am, when I was up at 7:30 to shower for church, and today, she was still sleeping at 7am when we went in to wake her up from school. Clearly, toddlers have no concern for the sleeping patterns of their parents. Crossing my fingers she’ll let us sleep in tomorrow!

When we pulled into the parking lot, she yelled, “Schooooool!” Followed closely by, “I need a muffin!” She was in the best mood, and even after a full week away, she still ran to Ms. Sheila when we walked in the classroom, and we had a perfect drop-off.

I was back to my normal routine of leftovers & Netflix for lunch on my break at work, which was perfect since I didn’t want to go out on this gross, rainy day anyways. But look how well my African violet is doing! I’ve had this one since May (Aunt Suzanne gave us all one on Mother’s Day), and this is the first time it’s bloomed again since then. It’s been growing beautifully, just not blooming. When I left last week, it had a few buds on it, and when I got here this morning, two of them had opened up so nicely! (You can’t tell as much from the picture, but the leaves/stems are really tall actually, and it’s grown quite tall!)

We got this photo of Emmie and her friends at school today, and I love it so much! Her little arms and her pose are just so sassy. Also, those are the twins she talks about all the time, there on her right, and I’m sure she was just thrilled to see them today. She has literally talked about them every single day for the past week, even though she hadn’t seen them for over a week!

When I picked up Emerson from school, she was very excited to show me the hat she made today, and she was adorable in it, of course!

She found this list Jeff made the other day, and she felt certain she needed to make a list of her own. She was very proud of herself when she made a couple of lines on the paper 😉

Since I didn’t do a grocery order over the weekend, we just baked a frozen pizza for dinner tonight. It’s our favorite one though. It’s delicious and we both love it, and neither Jeff nor I ever mind having pizza for dinner! (I do have a grocery order scheduled for tomorrow though.) When I asked her on the way home if she wanted pizza, she said no. So I made her some chicken nuggets & butter noodles. After a while, she didn’t want to sit in her seat anymore, but she did want some pizza.

After dinner, she thought she needed to vacuum her bicycle. So that’s what she’s trying to do below.

We were going to put batteries in it (it just makes noise), so she put on her headphones because she doesn’t like the noise. She was showing me baby Jesus on our nativity tree, while Daddy worked on her vacuum. (Turns out we had the wrong sized batteries, so we’ll have to get different ones tomorrow.)

After I changed her poopy diaper, I put on some hand sanitizer, and she thought she needed some too. And she was very pleased when I pumped some into her tiny hands as well.

She picked out this book for herself at the Dollar Tree last week, and we put it in her stocking. She has loved reading it every night since then, along with her caterpillar book.

No dishes to wash (I just wipe off the pizza stone with a paper towel), so it’s smooth sailing the rest of the night. I started up the electric kettle to make a couple mugs of tea for Jeff and I.

Jeff is doing some work on his laptop in the living room, while I write this blog post in our front/spare room. After I finish this post, I’m going to work on a end-of-the-year wrap up post, that hopefully I’ll get to finish and publish tomorrow, plus a post all about the books I read this past year.

I finished the series finale of FRIENDS (again) last night, so now I’m starting up “Hart of Dixie” for the second time (I watched it for the first time two years ago while I was on maternity leave), as my watch-it-when-I-do-other tasks TV show. It’s light & cheesy & also sorta dramatic, but it’s cute and fun.
