T&T Retirement Party!

Jeff did summer camp drop-off again today, because I had a dermatology appointment. Today was my first-ever full-body derm check-up (we have a history of melanoma in our fam, so it was definitely time), but that was quick and easy and everything was fine! And the girls did well at drop-off!

And today at work, we had another big party for two more retiree’s from our Bureau! Toni and Tammy have both worked at DOC for just shy of 40 years each, and they’re finally out the door! Although all of our roles have changed over the last couple of years, I worked side-by-side as counterpart to Toni for about six years, and Tammy was my supervisor for 10 years.

Tammy taught me SO MUCH through the years, and imparted her decades worth of knowledge to me, and helped pave my path to move up in our Bureau. (In fact, with their retirement now, I’m up for another promotion, which I’ve already interviewed for, and am just waiting for the official word on everything to come back from personnel.) She was so supportive of my personal life as well, and was there with hugs when I needed them.

Toni and I would sometimes bicker like siblings, and she would purposefully do things (like make errant marks on my notebook) to bother me and my slight-OCD-tendancies, but she was a great friend and it was all in good fun and we always had a laugh together.

I love them both, and our Bureau will certainly not be the same without them going forward, but I know they are ready for their next adventure to begin!

We also had a handful of old employees come back for the party, four of which had also already retired, and one who just moved to another Department. But I forgot to take any other pictures once the party actually started. But we had a great time, and lots of great food, and I even got a little unexpectedly teary-eyed when I spoke a teeny-tiny bit at the beginning of the party.

Our time at home tonight was run-of-the-mill usual, and Addie even fell asleep in the living room again early. (She fell asleep wearing her sister’s hand-me-down leotard, with a cape fastened around her waste as a skirt, halfway sinking down between the chair and the ottoman.)

Emmie went to bed easily, and then we were able to just carry Addie to bed and get her changed into her nightgown, and she settled right back down and fell asleep.
