Tomato Sandwich

Aunt Meggie and the triplets got to school before us today, and they sat and waited so we could all see each other before school this morning. And as usual, there was a little bit of fighting over who got to hold Addie’s hands for pictures, but we got over it quickly 😉

I thought I did a pretty good job with Emerson’s little “space buns” this morning, even if they were slightly uneven, and a little messy by the time we made it to school. They were still cute 🙂

Look at this summery lunch today – leftover cowboy caviar, with a tomato sandwich, made with a tomato fresh from my friend Amanda’s backyard. Sooo juicy and yummy. I think I’m gonna have another repeat of this tomorrow.

I got this box of instant latte mix from Home Goods last weekend, and tried it out for the first time today. I thought the little packet was super cute, but the coffee itself ended up tasting terrible. I added some of the powdered creamer I keep in my desk, and a pack or two of splenda, but it was still terrible.

But I did finish my audio book today that I just started Friday, having absolutely flown through listening to this 16-hour book. This is my second time reading this, and I loved it even more the second time than the first time. Now I have to wait for my library hold to come through on the second audio book in the series, and I’m hoping it doesn’t take the full 7 weeks that is currently estimated…

And Addison had a good day at school today, as always. I especially love the picture of the girls hugging out on the playground!

These little cuties were so very excited to see each other at the end of the day, and just walked themselves right on out to the car together!

Jeff went out to get started mowing the yard shortly after we got home, while I cooked sausage jambalaya for dinner, and then ate with the girls. Emerson thought it was too spicy, but she ate the sausage anyways (with the rice that was stuck to it), and really loved that. I had heated up some butter noodles for Addie, and Emmie ended up eating a lot of my sausage & the noodles, and Addie actually loved the bites of jambalaya I fed her.

After dinner, we went out to wave to Daddy, before I took the girls to get a bath.

After bath time, Emmie got herself some cookies, and sat down at the coffee table. I made Addie a bottle of milk, and we watched the Animal Kingdom show we like on Disney+, while trying to calm down a little.

Since Jeff was still outside finishing up (and then trying to cool down and then later in the shower), I had both girls together trying to get them both down for the night. And it was difficult. This looks like a cute, sweet pictures, but it only lasted about 3 seconds, and then both girls were all over the place and it was chaos.

It took a while, and Emerson even came back out of her room to give Addison this tiny penguin when she heard her crying, but I did eventually get Addison to sleep. She held on to the tiny penguin the whole time, and even kept it when I laid her down in her crib, about 30 minutes later.

Luckily, the jambalaya was a one-pot dish, so there aren’t too many dirty dishes to wash tonight. Jeff just finished eating his dinner at 9:30pm, so I’ll grab his bowl and wash the dishes, and I’m sure he’ll pass out soon, because he is of course exhausted from the heat and the yard work.
