Big Girl Books & Puzzle Progress

We were running a little late this morning, after just “one of those mornings” where everything is just a little off. But we still made it to school, just about 20 minutes later than usual, and my girls were happy and still had a good drop-off.

Since I finished an audiobook yesterday, I started another this morning on my way into work. I’ve already watched the limited series on Netflix based on the book, and I thought it was a really good show. Hard to watch, and hard to read, but very interesting.

And just like I stated yesterday after eating this exact same meal, I did in fact repeat this meal again for lunch today, and it was super yummy again today too, and felt super summery. But today I brought my own iced coffee from home, for my afternoon coffee (in addition of course to my hot morning coffee I had already finished).

Cute little Addie, having so much fun at school like always!

Speaking of books, I decided I want to own the hard-cover copies of the “Court of Thorns & Roses” series by Sarah J. Maas (which is the audiobook I finished yesterday, and my all-time favorite fantasy series), and I’ve made it my “summer goal” to thrift them all. I made a super quick stop at the Goodwill bookstore on my way from work to daycare, but didn’t find any today. I’m hoping I can make some time to hop around to a few more used bookstores this weekend, and maybe I’ll get lucky and find some.

Daddy took care of the girls and played a little bit, while I made a new recipe for one-pot chicken & rice, and it turned out really yummy. So easy, so flavorful, so filling.

The girls played a lot in the dining room after dinner, and Jeff and I just kind of took turns playing with them vs taking care of a few chores.

While Emerson was coloring, she just stated, “I’m good at coloring. I’m actually the best in the world.”

Emmie picked up a book, handed me a book, and let Addie grab one too, and then hollered out, “Daddy, we’re all reading big girl books!”

Addie randomly had a nose-bleed in the middle of the night, so we needed to get a fresh sheet on her bed, and get her in some fresh jammies too. We pulled out these 12-month size she got for her birthday, but my tiny girl was being swallowed whole by them 🙂 We left her in them though, and she was so cute.

While Jeff fed Addison a bottle and rocked her to sleep, Emerson and I worked on our puzzle, and then I did her bedtime routine with her.

When I came back up front, both Jeff and Addison were sound asleep in the chair together, listening to calming music on the tv. I picked her up and kissed her goodnight and carried her to her bed.

Jeff went to love Emmie and sing their little songs, and then he actually came to work on the puzzle with me. Emmie came out to ask us to turn her fan on, and she ended up staying and working with us for a few more minutes. And out of nowhere, Jeff was really good at the puzzle, and we made quite a bit of progress tonight!

When I finally got up to come write my blog, he stayed there working quietly for a few more minutes, and told me later he had placed a few more pieces. We’ve finally got the grassy part mostly done, and then we’ll move on the sky part at the top, which is sure to be even more difficult 😉

While the chicken & rice was simmering on the stove earlier, I washed up all the random dishes. Then after dinner, I cleaned out my Dutch oven and set it in the sink to soak, so now I’m going to go clean that up, but the few bowls and forks from dinner can wait for another day, because I wanna go back and see what else I can do on my puzzle!
