Thanksgiving 2019

Today was a GREAT day. It was long though, and I pared down the billions of photos to just 50, but that’s still a lot for one blog post, so I’m going to attempt to keep the writing short…

First, we started out by going over I-10 and through the woods, to Grammy’s new house we went!

There were bacon & cracker appetizers, that were bomb. I wanted eat like a billion of these bad boys.

Grandmommie made the most delicious biscuits, that she calls angel biscuits. These are my absolute favorite in the whole world, and I used to ask for them for part of my birthday meal she made me every year. She’s been making them most of her life, and she still uses her Grandmother’s biscuit cutter.

This was always my favorite coffee mug to use at my Grandparents’ house, so I loved getting to use it at my Mama’s house today. The other side says, “Taste & see the Lord is good.”

And helping put corn out for the deer.

She loved sharing her Christmas carols book with the triplets, and showing them Santa.

And have you every seen any four girls cuter than this?!? I’m sure you haven’t. There is wayyyy too much cuteness here!

Praying for lunch.

MVIMG_20191128_123502

A gorgeous, delicious, insane amount of food!

I saw a meme this past week that said something about not taking & posting photos of your Thanksgiving plate because we’re all eating the same thing & we don’t need to see it, but I couldn’t help it. Haha

The triplets are slowly being introduced to table foods, so today they got to try bites of broccoli casserole (which I think was my mom’s best ever broccoli casserole today) and dressing. None of them were very sure about it though…

MVIMG_20191128_125553

But they LOVED Grandmommie’s strawberry jello salad!

While Grammy got Emerson down for her nap after lunch, the rest of us took a walk with the triplets.

And then we hung out in the front yard for a while, soaking up the beautiful day & the perfect weather!

MVIMG_20191128_142152

She looked so teeny tiny all curled up in Grandmommie’s big bed – but she slept for almost 2.5 hours! (We were keeping the crib free for one of the triplets, who went down for their nap before Emmie woke up.)

MVIMG_20191128_145503

And Papa fell asleep sitting up straight, and we thought it looked so funny, like you could barely even tell he was asleep, unless you really looked at his eyes!

Once all four little girls were asleep, we sat at the giant kitchen island eating dessert and drinking coffee (decaf for me), and it was so nice to just have some adult time together.

After Emerson woke up, Grammy introduced her to a new tradition we started. Little figurines of Mary & Joseph will be “travelling” around her house until Christmas day, and Emmie can look for them every time she visits. Then, on Christmas day, Baby Jesus will be with them! So Papa helped her look for them this first time.

And then Aunt Meggie fed Emmie a piece of carrot cake before we had to head out.

Grammy also had a chocolate advent calendar for her as one more surprise.

After running home to get Pretzel, we headed over to the Pullen’s house for round two of turkey & all the sides. (This was from after we ate, since my phone was dead & charging for a while after we got there.)

MVIMG_20191128_181345

Nana & the girls made a fruit turkey today, and it was so cute!

MVIMG_20191128_181351

Andersen loved Pretzel so much!

Andersen was playing with Emmie’s hair, and she ended up giving her her very first ponytail! Then she wanted to give her two tiny pigtails, and man alive that was so cute! We’re definitely going to need some of those teeny tiny rubber bands, so we can try this again for real!

She loves these massaging puppy slipper things.

MVIMG_20191128_200359

She didn’t eat much dinner tonight, but at 8:15, she decided she was hungry. She ate a TON of strawberries & pineapple, plus two small chocolate donuts, and a yeast roll.

MVIMG_20191128_201509

We headed home and the rest of the family headed out for some overnight Black Friday shopping. We’re probably going to meet them tomorrow morning, but we weren’t brave enough to head out tonight!

Once we got home, we got Emmie to bed pretty much immediately, but not before she thought she needed to wear Mommy’s slippers for a bit.

MVIMG_20191128_205241

She was so tired and exhausted, but we still had to watch two night-night videos before settling down. We did hugs and kisses and prayers, and then settled in for lullabies.

Like I said at the beginning of the post, it was a GREAT day. I loved spending the entire day with our families, and watching Emmie play and love on her cousins on both sides of the family. We have more to be thankful for than I could even begin to name. Just to name a few though, we have amazing families, steady jobs, a great church, a cozy house, and a cute dog.  We have been blessed beyond measure, and I am immensely grateful for a multitude of things – including a perfect Thanksgiving day!

And if you’re interested, here’s last year’s post.
