Teeth Cleaning & Tea Party

Addie and I were running a little late today, which turned out to be good timing to see the triplets! And all the girls were so sweet and happy.

Poor little Emmie was actually a little down at drop-off, and just wanted to stay home and cling to Daddy, but she still made it off, and by the time I picked her up, she said she had a good day.

I got off work early today, to go back and pick up Emerson for her late-afternoon dentist appointment, for her regular cleaning. She did great, and had no cavities, and the whole thing was quick and easy. I barely even got any reading done, before they were all finished! (I just started the brand new book #18 in the Inspector Gamache series, which is one of my favorites, so I’m excited about it.)

One of her friends gave her that little choker at school today, and it’s so cute, but it makes her look too grown up! Also, like two years ago, she was scared to go to the dentist, so I let her bring a little stuffy friend with her, and she still always likes to do every time, and it’s so sweet.

Addie had herself a good day at school, and got to enjoy some outside playtime too.

We went back to pick up Addison afterwards, and then headed back home. We had a little extra time, since we got home about 45 minutes earlier than usual, so we braved the chilly weather for the girls to play outside in the playhouse. After a little time in the playhouse, and jumping off chairs, Emerson set up a little lemonade tea party for them, and that was absolutely adorable.

Eventually we got too cold though (even after Emerson put on pants and shoes for a while), so we moved the lemonade tea party indoors. Then I got started on dinner, which was just a meal kit from Fresh Market, so it was super easy, but good grief it was so stinking delicious!

It was so easy, I was also able to mix up some cinnamon brown sugar overnight oats for breakfast for myself the next couple of days, so that’ll be yummy.

And I promise this tasted just as delicious as it looks. The meal kit was $20, and contained not only the main ingredients, but also the seasonings and even the olive oil, and was enough for two people. Although our typical week-night meals I make at home don’t cost quite that much, it was way less than a steak dinner at a restaurant, and honestly it was right up there with restaurant quality. (The girls just had some chicken flavored rice and green beans; and Emmie tried one bite of steak and liked it.)

The girls and I were playing and dancing and goofing off after dinner, while Jeff picked up some prescriptions and coffee creamer from CVS. I went into the kitchen to start rinsing off the dinner dishes, and in the 30 seconds I was out of the room, Addison climbed up in the comfy side chair in the dining room, and knocked this plaster paw print off the little bar cart side table. It was a pressing of Primrose’s paws that the emergency vet did for us unknowingly when she passed, and later mailed to us. It’s been in the same spot for five years, with both Emmie and the boys all around it, and it was finally broken by the tiniest, monkey-est little climber girl, who my dad nick-named Destro, from G.I. Joe… Jeff’s gonna try to glue it back together, but some pieces just immediately disintegrated into dust when it hit the ground.

But when it broke, poor little Emerson was absolutely heartbroken, and came running to tell me, and was trying to pick up the pieces, all while crying and just saying Prim’s name over and over. It was heartbreaking for me too, to see how upset Emerson was over it, and after we collected the biggest pieces, I loved on her and calmed her down, promising to fix it as much as we could. Primrose died when Emerson was a little less than two months old, so she doesn’t remember her, but we have pictures up on our fridge, and we talk about her occasionally, so she feels like she knows and loves her like we did. She has the most tender, sensitive heart; she’s the sweetest.

Coincidentally, this picture of Primrose came up in my Facebook memories today. Jeff and I adopted her from the shelter less than a month after we got married back in 2013, and she was first baby girl. Still miss her so much!

After a pre-bedtime snack, and some cuddles watching “Bluey,” we got both girls to sleep easily tonight.

While writing this post, I’ve been watching “My Girl” on Netflix, which is one of my all-time favorite movies. I just saw the part where Vada & Thomas J. knock the bee hive off the tree, and then Vada can’t come out to play for 5-7 days (if you know, you know), so I know what’s coming soon, and my heart can’t handle more heartbreak tonight. So I’ve got to pause now before things take a turn for the worst… Jeff’s got lots of laundry to fold, and I’ve got lots of dishes to wash, so I’m going to listen to my audio book while I work, and try to get as much done as I can before my own upcoming bedtime.
