Teacher’s Pet

Love getting a crock-pot meal started for dinner first thing in the morning. When I was meal-planning and ordering groceries over the weekend, I wanted to try something new, and this recipe for Hawaiian chicken just landed in my inbox last week, from this food blog I subscribe to, specifically for slow-cooker meals. I had cut up the green & red bell peppers, and an onion last night, so everything went quick and easy this morning.

I got little Addie pie dropped off for her last day in her 3-year-old class at daycare. (Even though she just turned three, she’s been in the 3yo class all year, and she’ll move up on Monday to a new class with a new teacher.)

And once again, I oh-so-generously offered to grab a coffee for my co-worker Brooke from the Frother’s Daughter truck, so I could get an extra stamp on my little rewards card 😉 Allll of their August specials sound good, so I’m going to work my way through all of them. Last week I got the Butter Brew, and today I got the Teacher’s Pet. Both have been super yummy.

I took a long lunch break today to pick up Emmie early from summer camp, and head to Gilchrist for 2nd grade orientation! Jeff met us there as well, and we spent a very hot 45 minutes walking the campus from end to end, meeting her new 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Nielson (who coincidentally, I went to church with back in middle school), and meeting her “Creative Academics” teacher Mrs. Whitaker (the gifted class), and buying a new Gilchrist shirt to go with this years’ boot-scootin’ Western theme.

OH and yes, I’m sure you’ve noticed her one-shoulder overalls by now… She told me she wanted to wear them this way, because that’s how the big girls do it. I don’t know what big girls she’s seen do that, but she’s cute nonetheless.

I went back to work afterwards, but Jeff had taken the rest of the afternoon off. So they had a late lunch (for Jeff) at Sonny’s (Emmie had already eaten at camp). And then he got her some ice cream from Lofty Pursuits.

Jeff actually got pulled over by a police officer last night because his tag was expired, so he made sure to go to the tax collector’s office this afternoon to get it all renewed. Nana works in the same building, so Emmie hung out with her while Jeff was doing his stuff, and then they got Addie so she could see Nana too.

I know it’s not very photogenic, but this chicken turned out really good. I served it over rice (forgot to make the broccoli for an extra veggie), and added some diced green onion to mine, and we all really liked it. I’ll definitely add this to the list of meals I keep on my phone, that we all liked and should be made more often. I also still have four more portions of the chicken (and just two servings of rice), so we have lots of leftovers for more meals and lunches.

I worked on my puzzle, and these girls all cuddled up together in a line all down the couch next to me.

Tonight, I worked on the leaves right there in the middle next to the half lemon, and the leaves on the whole lemon towards the top left-ish.

When I got up off the couch to get the leftovers put away, the girls shifted a little bit, but everyone stayed all cuddly right here.

We ran out of the kids’ melatonin gummies last night, so tonight’s bed time was au nauturel, and they were a little bit wound up and a little bit difficult to get to sleep. After our usual routine, Emmie was still wide awake, so I let her just come back to the couch, and she fell asleep hugging on Pennie.
