Subs & Swaps

Today was pajama day in GC Kids! They earned this day because they raised so much money with the fun run a few weeks ago. And this chilly morning was the perfect day for jammies and cozy sweatshirts. Emmie was especially adorable with her new crocheted headband and mug of hot tea she made for herself.

We went out to Firehouse for lunch, because I’d seen their ads for the Thanksgiving turkey sub (with a side of gravy) and have been wanting to try it for a couple of weeks now. And it really is very delicious.

Addie also got herself a little pack of BGMC trading cards at church today, and she was so cute checking them out at lunch after she finished eating.

We had a few quick minutes to chill out at home…

Then we grabbed a Dunkin iced coffee (that I put into Jeff’s 7Brewzie) and went to the downtown library for another puzzle swap! My mom is out of town so she couldn’t go with us, but we actually took a stash of her puzzles to swap for her. Emerson was the eyes and ears for Grammy, and she was on the lookout for anything we thought Grammy would like.

Emmie stayed with me for all the puzzle swapping, and Jeff and Addie went adventuring around the library because little sister was bored before the thing even started…

Mama and I both brought six puzzles to the swap, and we got six new ones for each of us, plus two tiny 100-piece kiddie ones for me, and two more in my mom’s bag then Emmie grabbed for her during the “free-for-all” at the end, that were two of the ones we had actually brought that she forgot we brought. 🤣

Emmie and I picked up our Walmart grocery order after the puzzle swap, and then the girls helped me put everything away. Jeff washed a few loads of clothes today, mostly two giant loads of all my work dresses. The girls played outside for a long time, and I sat out on the back patio with them until I actually got a little chilly in the shade.

I was missing a few ingredients from the meal I was planning to make tonight, but Nana had sent us home with some leftover yellow rice from dinner last night, so I pivoted and baked some taquitos and heated up a can of black beans. We hadn’t had this meal in forever (it’s very much not low-carb), but it’s a fan fave of the whole fam, and they all ate it up!

While listening to the record of The Jonas Brothers latest album from last year, we actually noticed that this recording sounds different than the streaming version, which we’d never realized before. Very interesting!

We did a living room tidy up after dinner, and then let the girls play together for a little bit. They were a little riled up at bedtime, but I got them cuddled up and I laid down with them for bedtime prayers and our lullaby playlist, and we all fell asleep rather quickly. I stayed for the whole time and took a little napetizer, because I was pretty tired myself.

OK and now I’ve procrastinated for so long and taken forever to write this post, and I just need to go wash dishes!
