My sweet little girls ready for Friday this morning before school.
We saw these cool vehicles parked in our parking lot today, apparently because it was “public safety telecommunications week” or something like that, and we share part of our building with some FHP folks.

Delicious lunch with my work unit at Piesano’s today, with alll the carbs (and a Coke Zero with no carbs but a little caffeine). These rolls are amazing, and my friend shared her bruschetta flatbread, and then I could only eat half my pizza, but I brought the other half home for later.

And almost immediately after returning to work from lunch, I got a text from Emerson’s teacher saying she wasn’t feeling great, and had gone to the clinic. Then less than 10 minutes later, I got a call from the school nurse saying Emerson was nauseous and looking pretty bad. I got packed up to leave and go pick her up, but before I even made it there, the nurse called me back saying she had thrown up 🙁
So I brought her home and tried to get her settled down to rest. Unfortunately, she had a very rough afternoon though, and spent almost as much time in the bathroom as she did cuddled up in her little nest on the couch.

She had chills and could never get warm, so on one of her bathroom trips, I kinda joked that I was gonna set her out in the sunshine to warm up. She actually liked the idea and was like, “And you could bring out a chair and a book and read with me.” I said, “Little girl, I’ll do literally anything you want me to.” So I made her a tiny pallet on the patio, and even though she looked absolutely pitiful, she actually liked it and stayed out here like this for about 20-30 minutes.

Jeff went to pick Addison up from school, and since I actually had no plans for cooking dinner, I told them to just grab something while they were out, and eat before coming home, so that Emmie didn’t have to see or smell anyone’s food. Addie picked Whataburger, so they ate before coming home.

By 7pm, Emerson had been in and out of the bathroom literally all afternoon, and couldn’t even hold down the tiniest sips of water. (I was keeping track of everything in a note on my phone, and not letting her have a sip of water until 30-45 minutes after each episode. And yet, each sip of water would send her back to the bathroom.) So I called Urgent Care because I was afraid of her getting dehydrated, and they had us come on in. They first tried the little Zofran pill that dissolved under her tongue. Then they gave her a popsicle about 15 minutes later.

But after eating only half of it, she threw up again. So at that point, it had been going on for about 9 hours, and the four sips of water & half a popsicle she had never stayed down, so they decided to go ahead and do an IV. They did a mix of fluids and the liquid Zofran, and she got about half the bag of fluids for her tiny self. Inserting the IV was a little rough, but she was strong and brave. You can see she was pretty miserable during the IV administration, but afterwards, they had us stay for another 10-15 minutes to see how she was doing. She was finally able to take a few more tiny sips of water (one every five minutes), and was starting to perk up again.

We were discharged pretty late (they were almost closing by that point), and we made it home right at 10pm. She was so exhausted and worn out at that point, but she was holding down her tiny bits of water, and starting to feel better. She was actually singing to herself while making her bed (with an extra fleece blanket tucked in under the comforter since she’s been cold all day long), and seeming a bit more like her normal self. They want her on a clear liquids diet tomorrow, for most of the day at least, so that won’t be fun for her, but hopefully she’s over the worst of it now. Please keep her in your prayers this weekend, and pray the rest of the family doesn’t catch whatever little stomach bug this was!
