We started out this Independence Week with the girls rocking some red, white and blue for church this morning.

Jeff and I were both serving in GC Kids together, so the girls hung out in there since we got there early, and Addie was really enjoying her chocolate donut today.

My favorite part of kids church is seeing all these tiny people worshiping with their big hearts.

After church, we had a frew locations for folks to gather for lunch together. We chose to do the one here at the church for GC kids volunteers, with pizza for everyone and plenty of space for the kids to hang out and play together while the grown-ups got to talk.

You have to look really closely, but the girls made this banner that said “GC Kids” and marched it around the whole room like this, twice, making sure everyone saw it.

After church, we did some grocery shopping at Aldi for our weekly groceries, because I forgot to put in a Walmart pickup order this weekend. When we got home, I made a giant iced latte, and then we sat down to have a little bit of rest time. We watched a YouTube video from one of our favorite channels, which gave us about 45 minutes to just chill.

For Addison’s VPK graduation, Grammy and Papa gave her this “A” piggy bank, filled with $20.26 in coins, for the year of her grad. They did the same thing for Emmie, back in 2022, and so we had to decorate it with stickers, just like big sister. And she was very proud of her sticker selections! (I helped with the layout, but I let her actually stick them on.)

And of course Emerson couldn’t miss out on sticker craft time.

Jeff then worked on some laundry, and I worked on some dishes, until about 4:30 this afternoon. Then we went up to Nana & PopPop’s house, where we had hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner, and then Nana and the girls made no-bake cookies for dessert. Addie wanted to help dump the oatmeal into the mix, and she kinda got it all over the place. She was very excited to sweep though, and then went all around the whole kitchen with her broom. All while dressed as Elsa 😆

The cookies turned out delicious, of course, and we even got to bring a few home with us. It was late by the time we got home, so we immediately got the girls changed and ready for bedtime. They were both pretty tuckered out, so after some minimal crashing out, both were asleep fairly easily. So I’m gonna pop in an earbud, queue up a brand new audio book, and then go wash up some more dishes.
