Stickers & Mulled Cider

Emmie and I both wanted bagels for breakfast today, so we headed down to Bagel Bagel on Pensacola Street. It was my first time there, and I was super impressed. I ordered the sausage, egg & cheese on the asiago bagel, and to my surprise, it came open-faced, and was like double the size that I was expecting. And it was so good! Emerson wanted both cream cheese and sausage on hers, which is actually how they serve their melts, plus provolone, and although it sounds weird, the two together was actually really super good.

And little bit loved it too! Like I mentioned yesterday, her appetite has been lower lately since the surgery, but she ate a TON of that bagel this morning. She ate half of one of her halves, and half of one of my halves, and I ate some of hers, and we still didn’t finish everything. But it was all so good!

We had a Walmart grocery pick-up scheduled for early this morning after breakfast. But they tried to tell me they were out of creamer, and apparently the didn’t even attempt to provide a substitution, so obviously that was unacceptable. So I had to run inside to grab creamer (which they definitely had an acceptable substitute they totally could have grabbed for me), but at least I got some. Coffee without creamer is just not something I’m into 😉 The rest of my pick-up order was spectacular though.

Back at home, we had some time to play time, and Emmie got a super sweet card, with a few sheets of stickers, from her Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Shirley. She loved it, and we sent her a sweet little video back to thank her!

Make sure to press “play” on the cute thank-you video below 🙂

Daddy was working on some yard stuff today, and Emmie wanted to help him out just a little bit, while he aired up the tires on the wheelbarrow.

Emerson had $2 to spend at Dollar Tree yesterday, so she bought that foam airplane we played with at Grammy’s house last night, and a little tub of slime. We played with the slime for the first time today, and we were both a tad bit excited and squealy about it, so make sure your volume isn’t up too high, before you press “play” for this next video 😉

She helped make a batch of blue punch (that I grabbed on super clearance in the Walmart check-out lane today), and thought it was the best thing. She just loves to help me do anything that I’ll let her help with! She’s the sweetest.

She had “salad eggs” for lunch, which is what she calls egg salad, plus a ton of strawberries and some cheetos, and then went down sweetly for nap time, since it was much later than usual anyways, after all the stuff we did this morning.

She was super cuddly with Daddy when she woke up, and she snuggled with him watching Blippi for at least 20 minutes, and I got in some Kindle reading. (I’ve been trying to be more intentional about picking up my Kindle instead of mindlessly scrolling my phone whenever I get just a few spare minutes, and I really feel like it’s helped me read more lately.)

We played for a while at home, while it rained outside, and it was really dark and cozy in the house. Jeff wanted burgers for dinner, so we looked up a bunch of options in Google, before finally deciding to head across town to Grub. Some of our other choices to try were closed on Sunday’s, or not doing dine-in (cold burgers & fries are no bueno), or looked wayyy too fancy/expensive for our mood today. But Grub turned out to be delicious, nearly empty, and following all the social-distancing guidelines.

I got the one with bleu cheese & caramelized onions, and *chef’s kiss* 🙂 Jeff got the one with two giant onion rings on it, and he said it was great. Emmie’s grilled cheese was also delicious, and very buttery (I just had to eat the little crusts she left behind.)

In the car on the way there, we were listening to some “Frozen” songs, and a “Little Mermaid” song accidentally came on. She asked what it was and I told her, and realized we hadn’t introduced her to it yet, even though her bedroom is mermaid themed! So we started watching it a little bit after dinner tonight, and she was actually pretty interested in it.

But of course she can’t sit still for long and only watch a movie, so we did some more stickers while we watched. And she just happened to choose the sticker sheet with ocean animals, which was just perfect.

She was actually really sweet and easy to get down for bedtime, and we had zero issues really. Praise the Lord for that!!!

I hadn’t been “ready for fall” or anything like that (2020 has just thrown me off for SO many things, I’m all out of sorts when it comes to months/time/seasons/holidays), but I just happened to walk past an end cap at Walmart today full of fall-scented candles, for a whopping $3.96 (or whatever it is), and I was drawn to it. I grabbed this mulled cider one after sniffing a few. I lit it before starting Emmie’s bedtime routine, and when I came back out of her room, the entire house smells soooo amazing. It’s the most fall-scented candle I could have imagined, and I’m loving it.

Then while I was about halfway through blogging, our power went out! For two days now, there has been a generator attached to the utility pole across the street, and we’ve seen tons of utility trucks & the Comcast truck out there almost around the clock. We don’t know what’s going on, but it wasn’t effecting us. But then tonight our power went out! We still don’t know what they’re doing, but it was out for about 30 minutes. Emerson woke up when it went out (she heard it click weird and her nightlight went off), so that was a weird time. I had to go calm her down a little and try to explain what happened, but I got her to settle back down and start falling back asleep. And then not too long after that, our power came back on! (Which was very good, because the house was already getting warm, and my cell phone battery was down to 30%!)

We had a great weekend, and I was very glad for all of the down time. I’ve got one more week to work from home before I have to report back to the office (the rest of my building has been back since August 31, but I got an extension for our special open-heart-surgery-circumstances), so I’m gonna soak it up while I can!
