Egg Salad & Family Dinner

We had such a great Saturday today! Gonna try to keep the writing sparse, since it’s late already, and we have tons of photos to share anyways. My sweet little girl was a great helper making us some scrambled egg sandwiches for breakfast.

Her appetite has been a lot lower after the surgery, but she ate her whole sandwich, so I was proud of her for that! We think she’s eating less just for post-surgery reasons, but also, her heart was working so hard before, that she was constantly burning through food, and needing to just eat all the time and it just burned off immediately. But now that her heart is fixed now, we think maybe she’ll start needing to eat less anyways, and maybe even start to put on some pounds!

Girlfriend is obsessed with sweet tea, so morning time is the best to let her have some, so she’ll have hours to burn it off before nap/bed time.

We made egg salad again for lunch today, but we were out of relish. So we had to get dressed and ready to run out to Dollar Tree, because you can’t have egg salad without the sweet relish!

I found these super cute little books at Dollar Tree about traveling to different countries, shaped like suitcases, and I searched for every single one I could find. I ended up finding one more after this photo, but I want to go to other locations to see if I can find more!

Then we had a very special visitor, who even brought Emmie a little cup of ice cream – one of her favorite teachers from school, Ms. Q!

She stayed for a little while and let Emmie show her all the things, and played Play-Doh together, and then Emmie told her she had to honk when she drove away. (That’s literally a rule for everyone who ever visits our house, or Grammy’s.) Then she had a great lunch (she ate two scoops of egg salad), and went down pretty easily for her nap.

Jeff and I watched a little bit of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” while she napped, at least before I fell asleep on the couch. I got about a 45-minute nap, before Emmie and I were both woken up by a huge thunder crash. We grabbed a little caffeine at a gas station (we were out of creamer, so I didn’t have any coffee this morning), and then we headed out to my parents’ house for a family dinner.

One of Grandmommie’s sweet friends Kim made Emmie this pink super hero cape and she loved it so much!

The triplets were all wearing cute FSU outfits for game day today. (In order below: Kensley, Riley, Ellie.)

And Uncle Keith and Aunt Suzanne brought their brand new puppy Bella over with them tonight, and all of us were enamored with her! She’s tiny and adorable, and just very well behaved so far! 🙂

The triplets all loved Emmie’s new back pack, and at different times, they all took turns wearing it, although I didn’t end up getting a picture of Riley wearing it.

While we were all playing in the living room, one lone deer walked up through the front yard, alllll the right up the to bushes right in front of the porch. I quietly called all the girls over to come see, and they were so sweet and excited about it. The babies squealed and the deer heard them, so I kept trying to get them to quiet down so the deer wouldn’t get scared. But it was so cute watching the girls watch the deer!

Then there was this whole thing with all the sippy cups of milk and all the girls were being so silly and sharing and taking each other’s cups. Then they started trying to help each other, which they thought was hilarious, and then Riley & Emmie were both trying to give theirs to Kensley, and Kensley was just about to drown in all the milk! 🙂

We got all the girls in their jammies and brushed their teeth, and the started up the process of the long-goodbye. Emmie walked Ellie to the door, and then we carried her out so she could tell them all goodbye. She had to get up in the side of the van to hug and kiss them one more time.

Emmie also had to get some more puppy cuddles before we left, and she was being so super sweet with her, and kept wanting to hug her and pick hr up and put her in her lap. She was actually really good with her.

Before Uncle Keith & Aunt Suzanne could leave, Emmie told them she wanted to get up in his truck, so of course she had to do that.

Then we played inside for just a few more minutes, with this crazy styrofoam plane she chose at the Dollar Tree today, as one of the things she bought herself with the $2 cash she was given from her teacher Ms. Sheila.

We had such a great Saturday at home this morning, and a great visit from Ms. Q, and a great evening with the family! Looking forward to a slow, quiet Sunday tomorrow!
