Steam-Cleaning

Precious little girls, dressed and ready to head to daycare, both with a little stuffy friend for the car ride.

Only Addie went to school today, obviously, and Emmie and I had ourselves a little day together today! We started by sharing breakfast (and the coffee too) from Elliano’s, followed by a quick trip to Dollar Tree to find some tie-dye supplies.

We tried to go to the northeast library branch out there too, but it wasn’t open yet. Then when we came back home, she helped me clear out the majority of the stuff from the living room, so I could use this steam-cleaner thing I borrowed from Nita. But I forgot that we needed the soap stuff, so we ran back out to Publix to pick up a bottle, and she always insists on  “scaling” herself when we go there, so we discovered she’s a whopping 37 pounds right now…

I got busy cleaning the carpets when we got back home again, and I left her play in on her Kindle in her bedroom while I did this, which took about an hour, and I just listened to my audio book while I worked. I’ve done this at least once  or twice before, but can’t remember when… And this cheap carpet just gets so dirty and so stained so quickly, it pretty much always looks a mess. One day, we hope to replace it. It’s the only room in the house {besides bathrooms & kitchen} that’s not the original beautiful hard-wood from the 1960’s when it was built, but until then, we just deal with this ole cheap stuff….

We took a little lunch break and listened to an audio book and flipped through the Kindle version, while we ate together. I painted her nails her color choice of light blue with glitter, and then I did a second round of steam-cleaning on the carpet again.

By this point, I was exhausted already, and needed a coffee and a break! So I frothed my creamer and made a homemade iced coffee, and it was so good. But my little energizer bunny daughter couldn’t sit still any longer, and loved all the extra space in the living room, so she was doing all sorts of tricks and gymnastics.

My sweet little helper worked with me to make up some broccoli salad really quickly. But she still wanted to go out and do more, so rinsed out my fancy glass, and poured out the caffeinated Starbucks refresher drink they gave out at church on Mother’s Day, and we headed out to the park, where I got to just sit and read, while she ran around and played for about half an hour or so. We then made a super quick stop at the Goodwill bookstore, before heading to pick up Addison.

Here’s a couple of pics we got of Addie throughout the day…

At home, I got some potatoes in my little Ninja to air-fry-bake, then put away clean dishes and washed up a load of dirty dishes. Jeff got home with about 20 minutes to go before dinner, so he worked on laundry, and helped get all the living room stuff put back in the room. We had the leftover pork from Nana’s house on Sunday, plus the potatoes and the broccoli salad, and then dinner was ready.

I plopped the meat down on top of the potatoes (Jeff and I each had 1.5 taters, cuz they were slightly smaller), then topped it with butter, sour cream and freshly grated cheddar cheese, oh plus bacon bits and green onions. The potatoes were good, but my favorite was actually the broccoli salad, which turned out so perfect (for my first time ever making it), and was 10/10 in my opinion.

We did a few more household chore kinda stuff after dinner, getting things cleaned up and dinner stuff put away, and Emmie and I packed her a bag of clothes, because she’s going to spend the rest of the week with Grandmommie, Grammy & Papa, starting tomorrow morning. We all cuddled up for a little bit on the couch to snuggle and watch tv, and then at bedtime, the girls were both very sleepy and both were easy to get to sleep in their beds.

It was a great day together today, but it was so full and busy, and this mama is tired now! Probably just gonna go watch some TikTok videos with hubby (he loves to DM me a ton, and then sit and watch them all with me), until I fall asleep on the couch.
