Stars & Stripes

Today was stars & stripes day in GC Kids, and WOW these little patriotic babies looked incredibly cute! Emerson especially was just killing me with how grown up she was looking today.

I also gave her a low messy bun (like how I wear my hear all the time) so you could see the bow on the back, and it just looked so good and so cute!

We also had a little family photo taken together, since Jeff and I also joined in on the patriotic outfits.

Quick lunch at Firehouse after lunch, where Emerson ate her entire kids’ sized sandwich, and I cut off hunks of my sandwich to share with Addison, and she ate really well too.

Then obviously once we got home, all four of us had nap time together. Jeff held Addie for her whole nap, and Emmie slept in the bed with me, and we all slept for about 2.5 hours. We just kinda lazed around and played and chilled after that, and then sent Jeff to Walmart to pick up our grocery order.

At one point, the girls were both hiding behind the sliding glass door curtains, both just kinda singing quietly, flipping through some notebooks together. It was very cute and sweet.

I decided on a whim to try my hand making some pickled red onions. There are some recipes where you boil stuff and then refrigerate overnight. But I found a “quick” recipe where you don’t have to boil anything, you just mix apple cider vinegar, water, salt & sugar, pour over the sliced onions, and let sit for an hour. I got them done exactly one hour before dinner was ready, and they were decent, but I think they’ll end up being better overnight after all. (I did also end up adding a splash more of both water and ACV after this pic, to get all the onions covered up with liquid.)

And then I made some homemade ramen again tonight, like I made for myself and Addison last week, because I knew Jeff and Emerson would love it too. Tonight, I also added a can of sweet corn, shredded carrots, and fresh broccoli, to add in some veggies, and those were all really good additions. And this was actually even better tonight than last week. It was soooo good, and Jeff and Emmie did indeed love it as well.

Once again, Emerson wanted to take a picture on her own, so she asked for my phone, and snapped four photos of her own ramen bowl.

Check out this video of Emerson singing along to her favorite Taylor Swift song, “Better Man” at dinner. It’s been her favorite for a while, but she’s been requesting to listen to it on repeat this weekend.

We just played around and kinda lazed about again after dinner (I love lazy Sunday’s), with the girls playing dress-up, and me reading in between rounds of “pretend I’m a cheetah and Addie’s the vet and you brought me to the vet,” and Jeff working some computer stuff. We cuddled up on the couch to watch “Bluey” to calm down and get ready for bed. Addie fell asleep very quickly and easily, but Emmie needed lots of extra loves and cuddles tonight.

Thanks to the Governor, we’ve all got the day off tomorrow, so we still have two days of weekend left! Gonna go read a little bit more, or maybe watch some YouTube videos. Over the past couple of nights, Jeff and I watched “My Octopus Teacher” on Netflix, and it was honestly so super good. Incredibly beautiful, and surprisingly emotional, and just very unique.
