Springtime Wedding

We’ve had a full, busy day today. Starting with a trip to Home Depot for Jeff and the girls…

And a trip to the nail salon for me to get a much-needed, and very over-due pedicure for me. I had the massage on the chair, and a library book to read, and it was so peaceful and quiet in there and I very much enjoyed it.

Then we all met up at Nana & PopPop’s church to check out their gigantic yard sale in their gym. We spent about $20-ish dollars, and got lots of clothes for Emerson, plus a few books, a purse for me, and a little garlic roaster dish thing.

After that, Emerson and I made a super fast run into the library, to drop off a few books from a couple of weeks ago, and also to pick up a few books I had on hold. And Emerson picked out a few fairy books that a friend of mine suggested, that just so happened to be perfect for her age and reading level. And she got a sticker for completing the scavenger hunt.

We had a quick lunch, and then took turns in the bath/shower, and then got fancy to go to an afternoon wedding. And unfortunately, I didn’t notice until right now that all 8 of the “stair sister pics” were blurry. Addie found all her jewelry herself, and I just helped with the clip-on earrings. 😁I picked out their dresses, and they styled the rest! Oh and Addie found my breast cancer pin and had me put it on her.

During the ceremony, these two were just having some really sweet moments like this.

The ceremony was so pretty, and short and sweet, and also the first time I’ve ever actually been to a wedding at Dorothy B. Oven park, even after living here my whole life. We had heavy hors d’oeuvres after the ceremony, and they had a little ice cream bar too. The girls of course did some dancing (even when almost no one else was), and had fun running around playing with a bunch of other kids they’ve never even met before 🤣

This is Jeff with the groom, Jay, one of his really good friends. We met Jay at our old church like 10 years ago, and they’ve stayed really close through the years, and Jeff has been able to help Jay through some tough times in his life. Jeff was so proud of him for getting re-married today, after a tough divorce a few years ago, and finding a great woman to make a great blended family with! (We had lunch with them a few months back one Sunday, here.)

The weather was absolutely perfect and beautiful today, and we had such a nice time just hanging out enjoying being outside at a perfect springtime wedding. The girls continued to just play with friends and climb trees and dance. And like the introvert I am at a party with a hundred people where I know no one, I just enjoyed sitting by myself in the nice weather 😉

Also, I stinking love azaela season here in Tally! They’re blooming ALL over town right now, in so many beautiful shades, and I love them so much!

Addie skipped her nap time today to get ready for the weekend, so the little nugget fell asleep on the way home.

It was about 5:30 by the time we got home this evening, so we just put a cheese pizza in the oven, and spent those 25 minutes it was baking, cleaning the kitchen, living room & dining room at a very speedy rate. Emmie pulled out this wrinkled up certificate she got at school for the gratitude award.

And meanwhile, I turned the corner into the “library” portion of the dining room, and found this little goose drawing all over her own legs. When she saw me notice her, she tried to scoot under the keyboard and hide herself, but obviously she couldn’t hide all those red lines!

We got everything much more tidy than it has been in the past few weeks pre-and-post-vacay chaos, and it makes me feel better to have things more organized and put away. We had all those heavy snacks this afternoon, so we just shared a small cheese pizza for a light dinner, and re-watched parts of Moana 2 again.

So when it was bedtime, we tried to wipe some of the marker off her legs, since she already had a bath today and I wasn’t about to put her back in again late tonight… but it didn’t really work so great. So she’s going to church tomorrow with red marker lines all over herself!

I’m gonna paint my nails really quickly before bedtime, and probably watch some tv of course. But we had a great day today
