Soup Bazaar

Emmie had on all the layers this morning (nightgown, pj pants, socks, jacket), because she didn’t actually want to get dressed to meet Grandmommie. That’s how we always used to do it when I was little too, so it was a little nostalgic for me. At least Addie was fully dressed and ready for school!

Jeff actually took both the girls to school this morning, to meet Grandmommie with Emerson, and to drop off Addison in her classroom. (So it was strange but easy peasy for me to go straight to work today!)

At work today, our supervisors and and a few others all provided delicious soups, and the rest of us chipped in with sides and chips and crackers and desserts, and we had a delicious “Soup Bar & Holiday Bazaar!” (That’s what they named it and put it on the e-vite, and I loved “soup bazaar.”) We had 11 different crockpots of soup, and clearly a TON Of other goodies and treats. I got tiny scoops in my bowls, and went back three different times, and tried six different soups 😆 I even brought my own Tupperware bowl, so I could grab some of the leftovers for my lunch tomorrow!

One photo of Addie from school…

And here’s all the pictures of Emmie I got from Grandmommie and Grammy today! Homemade breakfast on the couch, lots of playtime, even some dish-washing, and then breakfast for dinner, which is her favorite.

Since Jeff had taken my car this morning with the girls, he went back to daycare after work to pick up Addison. So I got to go straight home after work, which was again weird and great. But clearly Addie was so excited to see him!

Since I got home much earlier than usual, I got started putting away clean dishes, and tidying up the kitchen, and eventually got started early on dinner. Used all these ingredients below to make some “southwest chicken & rice bowls,” copy-catting my Uncle Keith’s meal from a few weeks ago, using these zesty beans my mom had given us all to try. It was super easy, and really yummy, and Addie tore it up!

Jeff and Addie played together after dinner, and they let me work on my puzzle for a little bit. Then we switched and I played with Addie for a little bit, before getting started on washing up some dishes.

Since Addie has been so obsessed with putting her socks on her hands lately, I got out these little infant mittens tonight, and she was instantly in love with them. She went running through the house to show Daddy, and just kept babbling and waving with them and looking at them.

She fell asleep with Daddy while I was washing dishes, but then I scooped her up because I wanted some sleepy snuggle time for myself too. After about 15 minutes of snuggles, I laid her down in her crib, still wearing both of her little mittens.

While writing this post, Grandmommie sent me this last picture of Emerson, having a bagel with strawberry cream cheese for her bedtime snack. She’s just the sweetest little girl, and although I know she’s having a great sleepover, I missed her around the house tonight! It felt so weird to have just one little girl, instead of two. It reminded me of when Emmie was this age, and we really did have only one little one. It may be slightly easier with only one, but it’s just not the same without my Tater Tot!
