Socks with Sandals

I took myself a sick day today, and since the girls never had a fever, they were safe to go back to school today. So Jeff took them to school this morning. Although drop-off was a little shaky for Emmie, she did okay, but Addie had a rough time for sure. So, no picture of Addie at school this morning, because the only pictures he got of her were screaming ones, and those are so sad!

My behind stayed on the couch literally all day, only moving for meals and bathroom breaks. And it was actually really nice. I watched about five episodes of “Inventing Anna” on Netflix, and napped a little bit, and tried to drink lots of fluids.

Here’s a couple pics of the girls from the school today…

I went to pick up the girls late this afternoon, and then we had a little bit of hangout time together. Well, Addie and I played, and the four-year-old-teenager played on her Kindle in her bedroom 😉 Oh, and this was Addie’s first day to wear shoes to school! These are still just slightly too big because she’s so tiny, so she was rockin’ some socks with her sandals, and lookin’ just as cute as ever!

I had gained a little energy back today, so I was able to cook dinner for the family tonight. I used this seasoned chicken from Aldi, and used the “sear crisp” function on the sear plate in my air fryer, with some chunks of yellow onion. And this chicken was some of the best I’ve ever cooked! It came out so perfect and juicy and tender, and I will definitely be cooking chicken this way again.

I diced up the chicken breasts, then heated up leftover yellow rice Nana sent home with us last night, added a can of black beans, and then made everything into chicken burrito bowls with all the toppings. And it was delicious.

Tomorrow is picture day for the girls, so we did bath night tonight, and then I spent time washing dishes while they watched an Animal Kingdom video on Disney+ to help calm everyone down some. We loaded the girls up with some meds again tonight, and started on the bedtime routine, and Emmie wanted me to take a picture showing her Elsa & Anna nightgown. And then when she asked to see it, she said, “Awww cutie!” And I just thought that was so sweet and innocent that she called herself cute

Daddy got Addison to sleep pretty easily, because girlfriend missed her usual late afternoon car ride nap, and was just totally exhausted tonight.

Although I do feel better tonight than I did over the weekend, I’ve still got the cough (that lasts forever of course), but I’ll be going back to work tomorrow, even though I’d like to just be a couch potato again tomorrow for a second day in a row 😉
