Send-Off to Kids Camp!

With Emerson’s broken arm, it’s hard to change clothes. So she picked a soft shirt to sleep in last night, and I told her she could just go to church casual today, and wear the same shirt. So she just threw on some shorts and she was ready to go early with me for worship team. We left Addie and Daddy at home to get ready on their own, and so she ended up in a pumpkin dress in June 😉

After church, we had a quick lunch, and finished getting Emerson packed up and ready for kids camp. Then we had to be back at the church by 2:30, to get all the luggage packed under the bus, and load up all the kiddos. We’re doing youth camp & kids camp at the same time, same place this year (just opposite sides of the same large camp), so we rented a giant charter bus to transport everyone. But since we have 65 people total, they also had to drive the church van to have enough space. This is also the first time the triplets are attending as full-fledged campers, because they’ve gone before with their parents, but this is the first year they’re old enough to fully participate. So everyone is very excited!

Aunt Meggie, and our friend Renae, are going to take great care of my big girl. Plus, Ellie promised to stick by her side and help her when she needs it, and Emmie’s friend Daisy said she’d help do her hair (her mom’s a hair stylist!). I know she’ll be fine, but my mama-heart is certainly  more worried about her this year than usual, for obvious reasons.

While I dropped off Emmie at church, I left Jeff and Addie home, so she could nap. I went by Walmart afterwards to pickup our grocery order, but they were SO busy and all the spots were completely full, so the whole shebang took like 50 minutes. At least it was solid audio-book-listening time in my car! I came home to find them both asleep, so I let Pennie in there to help wake them up, but she just settled down to snuggle!

I ordered this little meal deal for our dinner tonight, with lemon-pepper rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes and mac & cheese, and that worked out super easy peasy. Nothing great, but easy, and we ate on paper plates, so it didn’t produce any more dirty dishes. I did however dirty up some dishes afterwards though, when I used the leftover chicken to make up some chicken salad.

We all worked on some chores, laundry, dishes & tidying after dinner, and then Jeff even went outside to do some late-night yard work, since it had “cooled off” to about 80 degrees. And these girls kept running back and forth from the carport door to the window to the backyard sliding glass door, trying to find him and watch him.

As they were laying here like this, Addie rolled over onto her back, looked backwards out of the window and said, “Mommy, isn’t it lovely to just lay down and look at the blue sky?”

My little girl got to stay up a little bit late tonight, but we already picked out her outfit for tomorrow, and packed her swim bag, and she’s gonna get to take that chicken salad I made for her lunch. So we’re halfway ready to go for another week of summer camp at East Hill.
