Second Sick Day

I dropped off Emerson by herself again today, in the chilly spring morning weather…

And then took Addison to the ENT for a 3-week checkup after her tubes surgery. And her ears are looking great!

Then we went back home, to spend her second sick day together before she returns to school tomorrow, since she’s been fever-free since Sunday night. She was super sweet while we were just hanging out, but then fought me for over an hour for nap time, until I finally put on a “babbling brook” video on YouTube super loud on the tv, and then sang lullabies from my phone, and then she passed out on me.

I lit my favorite candle, made myself some lunch, and watched tv for a while during her naptime.

Then she was ready for some lunch herself when she woke up, after about a 2-hour nap.

Then we spent a couple of hours playing together and walking all over the house.

And then she was ready for another nap again, but luckily this time, she went down much easier.

While she was sleeping again, I ran to school and picked up Emerson, and then we had some playtime in the carport at home since Addie was still asleep.

Emerson wanted to help Daddy do some yardwork, but I made her eat first, and then she went back out with him. I chose a tiny little ham from Aldi the other day (which I have literally never bought before), but also made a little honey mustard brown sugar glaze for the top, and it turned out really good.

Jeff kept on mowing during dinner, since the weather was so good and he wanted to finish before dark, and then all of us girls went out to watch. And Emmie even “helped” a little bit too. Addie was so curious to see what was going on!

I got the girls in the bath and all cleaned up and in their jammies, and then did a modified bedtime with both girls, while Jeff got showered and cleaned up too. Emmie did well at bedtime, but Addie has been fighting sleep again for a while now.

Hopefully we can get her to sleep soon, so Jeff and I can both get some rest tonight. I’m tired from a late night last night and being woken up too many times, followed by a busy day with a busy baby. And obviously Jeff is super tired from mowing the yard. We need some good rest tonight!
