Staple Removal

Baby Sister Addison got to go back to school today, and she was so excited to see her friends and teachers when we opened the door to her classroom. It was so sweet!

But I only dropped off Addie, and Emmie and I went to meet Papa at Whataburger for breakfast…

…before heading to the pediatrician’s office to get the 12 staples & 1 stitch removed from her scalp. (Papa emailed me yesterday and offered to go with us, since I got physically weak when I was at the hospital with her last week, and it was really great having him there.) We saw Dr. Abby first, and then she sent in her best nurse to take care of my girl. She was scared, and it hurt a little and she cried a little, but she was also super brave and didn’t even flinch. She did so good!

She of course requested ice cream afterwards, but since it was only 9:30 in the morning, we couldn’t exactly go get DQ like she wanted. Instead, I let her pick something out the ice cream cooler at the gas station, and she thought that was a pretty great option too.

She asked when we left if we could go home so she could hug Daddy, but we were nowhere near home, and I just didn’t have time before getting to work, but she was happy with a quick video call before school drop-off.

I had the same thing for lunch for the third day in a row, and I loved it just as much again today.

Emmie is still on some playground restrictions for another week while her head is still “weak,” so her little friend stayed underneath the patio to color with her and keep her company during playground time. So sweet.

And Addie made a little family tree of their handprints with her class today.

When I got to school to pick up the girls, Addison had just fallen asleep sitting here with her teacher, all slumped over with her little tummy hanging out. Good grief she was just so adorable!!

Emerson hung out with me up at the counter while we got dinner ready. She was trying to do all these tricks and magic and kept being SO surprised that I guessed which bowl she put the candy in 😉

I made carnitas rice bowls with black beans and all the toppings, and we ate outside, and it was so yummy and so nice. And although Emerson took one bit and literally said, “This is awful,” (and ended up eating a ham sandwich), Jeff and I thought it was delicious, and Addison killed it! Girlfriend really loved the black beans, and gave herself a little black bean beard 🙂

Black bean beard!!!

Daddy got Emmie this pig cookie from Striplings (country gas station in Georgia) last weekend, and she started eating on it tonight. I told her she could have half, but she didn’t even eat that much of it.

I spent a little time washing dishes while Jeff played with the girls, and then we got started on bedtime. Emerson went through some of her shenanigans, and it took a while, but luckily Addison was easy peasy.

Jeff took care of the trash & recycling to get picked up tomorrow, and cleaned out the fridge a little bit, all while I’ve been blogging. I actually went to bed early last night, and still woke up with a headache this morning. But I think I’ll try to go to bed early again tonight, and catch up on more rest.
