Reading & Cleaning & Baking

Emerson woke up at 6am, and Jeff got up with her first. They snuggled and watched tv, and then I woke up around 7am. He went back to bed for an hour, while Emmie and I played babies in her room together.

Once I was awake enough to drive, we rode through the Bojangles drive-thru to grab some breakfast biscuits (although Emmie only wanted the sausage & eggs, no biscuit), and brought it back home to a pot of fresh coffee.

We just chilled and took it easy for a while, watching videos and listening to Christmas music. She colored while I read, and then she got up and danced like crazy to one of those Christmas light shows on YouTube that she was enthralled with.

She wanted to bake some cookies, so her and Daddy worked on those, and we all three pitched in to clean up the living room while the cookies baked in the oven. Then Tater had a Lunchable for lunch, before getting her down for naptime.

I got this book for free, and it was actually pretty cute. I finished it today, and although it was light and fluffy, and slightly predictable, I’d probably still read the others in the series when in search for something easy to read.

Jeff ran to Home Depot for some random supplies, and picked up our Walmart grocery order. I ate a piece of leftover pizza for lunch, then painted my nails and watched Netflix while Emmie napped. She slept just five minutes shy of two hours, and woke up with pink cheeks, and crazy, sweaty hair. My favorite.

She finally got dressed for the first time today around 3:15pm, and was looking super adorable in this Flagler College t-shirt (my alma mater), that Grammy & Papa got her on their trip from last month. She also let me do her hair for a change, and I convinced her to let me do pigtails, and she picked out the white scrunchies to go with it. So cute!

While Emmie and I alternated play time and chores (vacuuming, laundry, tidying), Jeff did some of his own chores. We decided to get take-out from Bento for dinner, so I ordered online and ran to pick it up. We both ordered the same thing we always get – yellow coconut curry chicken rice bowl for me, and creamy pao pao chicken rice bowl for Jeff. Plus a tiny mexi sushi roll to share. I ate my two sushi pieces, and less than half of my bowl before I was stuffed.

You’ll be very UN-surprised to find out that Emmie just had cheese noodles for dinner, but she ate every single bite of it, and her and Daddy joined the “clean bowl club” together tonight!

Earlier this week, we received a Christmas card from the family of Emmie’s twin besties at school, and we tucked it into the tree right at her eye-level, and near where she could see it from her seat at the table. And she’s loving having it there.

Also, please look at this ridiculous amount of fresh ginger root that we got in our grocery pick-up order today. I literally only needed like 1/6 of this, but dang! Can I freeze this or something? Does anyone know?

Emmie luxuriated in the bathtub for about 30 minutes tonight, and then picked out her own PJ outfit and socks, and requested a sugar cookie snack, because she was “so so so so so so so so so hungry.”

Bedtime went really well tonight, but mostly because we bribed her regarding a special trip she gets to take with Grammy and Papa tomorrow. 🙂 But hey, it worked, and she went to bed and went to sleep super quick and easy tonight! The house is clean and the candle it burning, and now it’s time to start up a Christmas movie and snuggle with my hubby!
