Today, we got started on the usual routine for this summer. First up, Emmie gets to participate this week in a special camp for the gifted kiddos, through Leon County schools. We were able to rank our choices, and she got placed in her first choice, which was puzzle camp! They are doing all sorts of puzzles, in the style of Survivor, Amazing Race, escape rooms, etc… And she was so pumped to go!

My little Addie Pie started her first day at East Hill summer camp. She had a bit of a rough drop-off though with Daddy, so we don’t have any pictures of her at camp….
Emmie’s puzzle camp is over every day at 1pm, so luckily Nana is able to help us out, and she will be picking her up most days this week. Today, Emerson got CFA for her second lunch (because I packed her a lunch this morning!), and then they played more games out at Nana’s house all afternoon!

And although Addie had a rough drop-off, by the time I picked her up, she said she had a great day! She got to swim, and play on the playground, and she said she made a friend. She did say she was a little sad during part of the day, but by bedtime tonight, she was literally skipping through the house, singing, “East Hill is so fun! East Hill is so fun!” So hopefully she’ll get more and more settled, and be more at ease each morning.
Anyways, we went up to Havana after I picked her up, and although I tried to get her to calm down and take a rest shortly after getting in the car, since it was a 35-40-minute drive out there in 5 o’clock traffic, she insisted she wasn’t tired. And then she finally fell asleep while I was singing Jonas Brothers, and we were only 9 minutes from their house.

These sweet little girls were so happy to see each other tonight!

And Nana had made us a delicious, home-cooked meal for our dinner tonight!

This baby girl ate two whole corn cobs, plus another half of her sister’s that she finished up. Her and her Daddy are both huge corn on the cob fans!

After dinner, the girls played together out in the backyard very sweetly, and I was able to read my book for a while. This is our June book club pick, and our meeting is this coming Thursday. I’m on page 240-ish or so, which means I’m about 65% through, so I still have quite a bit to squeeze in over the next few days!

And I told Addie I needed a photo of her since we didn’t have one from this morning, and she gave me this perfect little pose and smile.

Homemade chocolate chip cookies with some chocolate ice cream on the back porch was the perfect summer dessert.

Oh, and here’s the Survivor torch Emerson made at camp today! They also each got to hunt for a hidden immunity idol, which is a little corded bracelet she got to bring home. OH! And Survivor 50 star and local legend Christian Hubicki came to their camp today! I wish they would have taken pics with him to send to the parents, but it was still cool they got to meet him! Emerson said she went up to him and told him, “My mommy and her friend Kayla came to your watch party!”

We had a bit of a late night, but we got the girls down relatively easily. Emmie and Pennie really missed each other last week, and they were so sweet cuddled up together in bed tonight. And before long, both of them were sound asleep.

OK, it should be my bedtime now, but I’m gonna try to read at least 10 or so pages before I go to sleep, so I can keep chipping away before book club…
